Come on, you didn’t really think you’d read the last of these stories, did you? Brett Favre is retiring. And this time, he’s putting it in print.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Favre has officially fired his retirement papers. Apparently, Favre got the paperwork done shortly after the conclusion of his disappointing 20th NFL season.

Does this mean there’s zero chance of Favre flip-flopping again? Hahahaha – of course not. Favre filed his papers in February 2009 but was granted reinstatement so that he could join the Vikings. After his tearful 2008 farewell press conference in Green Bay, however, Favre did not file the papers.

The difference between this retirement and the previous two is that Favre is 41 and coming off an injury-and scandal-plagued campaign. But who knows, maybe he’ll change his outlook and view that as “unfinished business” come August.

With a whimper...

Brett Favre tempted fate one too many times, and this season was proof that he should've hung it up back when he was on the Packers.  Was the 2009 season worth the 2008 and 2010 seasons ?  The guy was a great quarterback, though not the greatest, and what he did in the final years look a lot like padding his numbers for the record books.  In Favre had retired at the end of the 2007 season, he would be a beloved front office executive in Green Bay.

In the end, the guy was a cartoon, a ridiculous exercise in someone not knowing when to hang it up.  His consecutive start streak is a good example- some of those starts were a mistake, Brett playing with a bum knee or a partially separated shoulder, purely for pride.  His team often lost games because Favre created turnovers related to his injuries.  At least Cal Ripken was honorable enough to move to third base, before he starting losing regular season starts.

I hope the saga of Brett (un)(re)retiring is over.  The league has lost patience, and so have his fans.  Get this guy out of football, a first ballot for the Hall of Fame, and let's try to remember only the good times.

It's amazing how many Biqueens fans support this dolt. Because of him, your QB situation is in shambles. That's okay..BiQueens fans are used to collapes..you know, the Biqueens in the playoffs, the Twins, the Metrodome.....

Yep, I think he is done regardless who may want him, a shortned season due to labor talks, etc. Can't deny he was Great! Maybe the greatest but that is always a debate and no one can win that so I will settle for as one of the greatest!
Hs records, stats, consecutive starts say it all. Packer fans, haters alike who always bring up his off field antics only can use that to try and smear him. Can't smear the records he set, they're in history. So Farve is gone but not forgotten for all great moments on the field. win or loose, Farve made it FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over hyped & overrated? Are you f**king retarded? Look at the stat books, look at his highlights. 71,000+ yards passing, and 500+ TDs, and a Super Bowl ring, AND how many come from behind wins, etc.. Overrated QBs don't do all of that. Also, did Brett Favre bang your wife/girlfriend? I never saw anyone with such hate for someone they've never met. You're all just bitter cheese heads.
