Vick okay being franchised? 'Absolutely'

Michael Vick would have been successful in a lot of places, but it's pretty clear that his specific situation -- in Philly with Andy Reid -- led to a lot of his comeback in 2010.

Vick, speaking with a local news station in a recent interview , clearly understands that and believes that the Eagles offer him the best chance to win a championship.

"Absolutely, absolutely," Vick said when asked if the Eagles gave him the best chance to win. "I know we're only going to get better as a team. I would love to stay here, love to be here, and I think this team gives me the best chance of winning a Super Bowl."

Vick mentioned that he didn't originally want to be in Philly (they didn't want to offer a one-year deal and had Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb on the depth chart already) but it's clearly grown on him. So much so that he offered the same answer when asked if he'd be okay with a franchise tag in 2011.

"Absolutely, absolutely. No problem," Vick said. "I think about my situation two years ago, and to me, it's about securing my future financially, but I was in a position where I didn'thave anything at one point after having everything. So now it's all just a blessing, so whatever it is, whether it's a franchise tag or long-term deal, or however my agent and the Philadelphia Eagles, or whatever team may be, work it out, I'm going to be happy. But hopefully it's here."

IT sure does seem like Philly would be the best spot for Vick -- if they can improve on the defense and shore up the offensive line, they could work their way into a team that can actually contend for a Super Bowl, especially if Vick continues to progress, particularly because of the explosiveness they've got at all the skill positions.

And, besides, if he keeps doing what he's doing (on and off the field) and saying what he's saying (same thing), there's no question he'll be getting that big contract sooner rather than later anyway.

what a poor argument.  There's a lot of space between chopping off his hands and rewarding him with $18,000,000 to play a game. A LOT.  I've heard many people defend these salaries players get because they are entertainers, role models and reps of their teams and cities.  Well why would you want to reward a donkey like this and have him be the face of your team and city?!  This guy is an animal torturing, VD spreading, lying thug whose ONLY redeeming quality is a really good 40 time. Send him to the chair or lop off some digits for those qualities, heck no.  Pay that same donkey $18 Mil to represent me, forget you!  Justice and what's right fall somewhere between the two points.
BTW we ARE better than the ME because we can even have this conversation.  If you're not certain of that fact, PLEASE go spend some time there and then come back and we'll have an educated conversation about it.

With the franchise tag, comes a guaranteed amount of dollars....Seems like a no brainer, that the ex-con scumbag, would be happy with that.

My question is, is he going to be "tagged" with or without an ankle bracelet?

It should be mentioned that he wasn't out shooting cuddly pets in his local Virginia neighborhood.   There will  be some who say there's no difference...
