Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

Wednesday afternoon, multiple reports emerged about a foot injury that Tom Brady dealt with during the 2010 season. Unfortunately, it wasn't believed to provide a legitimate excuse for the Jets dominating the quarterback during their divisional-round matchup.

Now the Boston Herald reports that Brady will have foot surgery on Thursday afternoon at the Massachusetts and that the procedure, which may involve inserting a screw and is similar to something Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroida underwent, will be performed by Patriots team physician George Theodore.

The foot injury was first mentioned this season immediately prior to the Patriots beat down of the Steelers -- Brady was listed on the injury report and yet put up his most dominant performance of the 2010 season to date. After that, Brady rolled his way to a (very likely) second MVP award and there wasn't much made of the injury.

At least until the loss to the Jets set in and the Pats offseason began -- now there's ample speculation to occur whether or not Brady was bothered by the injury, and how much it will affect him going forward.

Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

Does anyone else get the feeling that every time Brady loses a playoff game, he has some sort of surgery afterwards?  I wanna see the medical records.  It's just too perfect.  Who can get me Brady's signature on a HIPAA authorization?

Stop the bs excuses. When the Pats were running wild over all those playoff teams everyone was crowing very loudly how great they were and look at all the points they scored. Now they are a "rookie" team and the Jets get no credit whatsoever? That's bs, they got beat by a better team that will be playing in February. So go suck an egg and wait till next year you spoiled little child of a Pat's fan. Are their lockers all cleaned out yet? Have they made their tee times for this weekend while vacationing in Hawaii? I hope their wives bought new furniture so they'll be comfortable while sitting on their couches watching the Jets play this weekend.

There are also reports that Brady is demanding an Ugg-boot shaped cast for his foot. "If I'm winning the Super Bowl, I might as well sell out," Brady said.

Speedracer - your MVP to Vick argument has a couple holes in it. First of all, it's a regular season MVP award, not playoff. One and done in the playoffs shouldn't have any bearing as tho who the regular season MVP was. Otherwise, how could you ever give it to Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Barry Sanders... Seriously, how many MVP awards has Favre won since that super bowl in 97? And how many times has Favre ended his team's season in the post season by throwing up a garbage interception? Playoffs has nothing to do with the regular season MVP.

I'd love to leave my argument at "one and done" as well, but I can't. You've got to learn some geography, homer. Vick plays in for the Eagles... The Philidelphia Eagles... It doesn't get much more east coast than Philly.... It's on the northern part of the Deleware Bay, which empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The only way the Atlantic Ocean's NOT on the East Coast is if you live in Europe, and Philly's NOT in Europe. The "east-coast bias" only counts if you wanted to give Matt Hasselbeck the MVP. Plus, he did win a playoff game!

I think the Patriots should draft Defense, DL,OLB,it would be a mistake to let Logan Mankins go,and just replace him with draft pick just a waste of a pick,If Belichick trades down for what he calls value, he should be let go, he made a mistake two years ago by not taking Clay Mathews, trading down to take 2 players he could have still taken in later rounds without trading a 1st round pick, the Pats had a great regular season against a tough schedule, Defense still need a lot of work, and Belichick needs to start paying other players, besides Brady, start with Mankins!

Regarding Chad, I do think winning consistently makes following the rules easier.  Randy was a model citizen when he came here.

First they need to address the pass rush, then the O line.  With 2 1st, 2 2nd (Panthers pick is like an additional 1st), and 2 3rd round picks that should not be a problem.  Although I do see Belichick trading some of the picks into next year to spread them out.

Ocho's a free agent and said he would like to play for the Pats, anyone see it happening.  Him & Belichick are friends but I think he's like the crazy uncle.  Belichick enjoys him when he comes to visit at Thanksgivings (pro bowl) but is glad he doesn't have to live with him.  Also, I don't think Chad can live with Belichick's rules and as you can see with Welker, he treats all his players the same no matter if he is a star or not.
