Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

Wednesday afternoon, multiple reports emerged about a foot injury that Tom Brady dealt with during the 2010 season. Unfortunately, it wasn't believed to provide a legitimate excuse for the Jets dominating the quarterback during their divisional-round matchup.

Now the Boston Herald reports that Brady will have foot surgery on Thursday afternoon at the Massachusetts and that the procedure, which may involve inserting a screw and is similar to something Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroida underwent, will be performed by Patriots team physician George Theodore.

The foot injury was first mentioned this season immediately prior to the Patriots beat down of the Steelers -- Brady was listed on the injury report and yet put up his most dominant performance of the 2010 season to date. After that, Brady rolled his way to a (very likely) second MVP award and there wasn't much made of the injury.

At least until the loss to the Jets set in and the Pats offseason began -- now there's ample speculation to occur whether or not Brady was bothered by the injury, and how much it will affect him going forward.

I think you are crazy lol The O-Line played pretty well

Mankins is a free agent (may leave), Light is a free agent, Neil may retire.  They need at least 1 if not 2 O linemen in addition to a D end & OLB.  Other than that they should be fine.

Yeah must be an excuse....pro athletes always like to have unnecessary surgery when things aren't really wrong just because they lose a game.  Am I the only one that thinks that sounds a little ridiculous?

Since they both went one-and-done anyway, I still think Mike Vick should be MVP. I thought it would be hard to give it to him after they lost, but since the Pats lost too it's really no difference. Mike Vick, your 2010 MVP. Although the east-coast bias of media won't let it happen.

I've gotta say, I'm impressed with the refreshing perspective all of you Pats fans have shown about this on the message board.  Nice work, not biting on the speculation.  Keep it up!

Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

There are too many questions for me to ask on what happened this past sunday, however, they ultimately won't change what the outcome was. All I can say is New England had a very good season, just not enough to make it memorable one like our last Superbowl season. Thanks for the memories of 2010. Here's to a new season-in-waiting:2011!Cool

"For one, no Patriot's fan is making excuses.  We got beat in all phases of the game.  But, I disagree it was the fault of Tom Brady.  THe offensive line, was, well, offensive.  They did not protect the QB in any way, shape, or form.  Plus, I look at several dropped balls that were key, Algie Crumpler in the end zone at the beginning of the game and Deion Branch on the 3rd and 19 in the third quarter. "

I think you are crazy lol The O-Line played pretty well. The amount of time Brady sat back there for 8-10 seconds was ridiculous. The reason he was sacked 5 times was due to the great coverage down field. He just couldn't find an open receiver most times. It wasn't like the Jets just rushed on through the line and got right to him. Great coverage + non running QB = sacks.
