Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

Wednesday afternoon, multiple reports emerged about a foot injury that Tom Brady dealt with during the 2010 season. Unfortunately, it wasn't believed to provide a legitimate excuse for the Jets dominating the quarterback during their divisional-round matchup.

Now the Boston Herald reports that Brady will have foot surgery on Thursday afternoon at the Massachusetts and that the procedure, which may involve inserting a screw and is similar to something Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroida underwent, will be performed by Patriots team physician George Theodore.

The foot injury was first mentioned this season immediately prior to the Patriots beat down of the Steelers -- Brady was listed on the injury report and yet put up his most dominant performance of the 2010 season to date. After that, Brady rolled his way to a (very likely) second MVP award and there wasn't much made of the injury.

At least until the loss to the Jets set in and the Pats offseason began -- now there's ample speculation to occur whether or not Brady was bothered by the injury, and how much it will affect him going forward.

Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

For one, no Patriot's fan is making excuses.  We got beat in all phases of the game.  But, I disagree it was the fault of Tom Brady.  THe offensive line, was, well, offensive.  They did not protect the QB in any way, shape, or form.  Plus, I look at several dropped balls that were key, Algie Crumpler in the end zone at the beginning of the game and Deion Branch on the 3rd and 19 in the third quarter.

The coaches did not have this team prepared and ready, just like the Cleveland game.  The fear I had, like everyone else who follows the Pats, is that we were due for a bad game.  We had played so flawlessly against what I thought was the toughest schedule in the NFL this year.  Our offense hid the mistakes of the defense, but it didn't hide the fact that we need real Offensive Coordinator.  I know Tom Brady makes about 50% of the calls with his audibles, but Bill O'Brien, the defacto Offensive Coordinator is not the man for the job in my opinion.

I think the next draft should cure a lot of ills, as long as Belichick does not trade down the first 3 picks.  They should be defensive end, OLB, and CB, then OT.

I'm guessing Brady got suckered into a full foot massage by Sexy Rexy. In the heat of the moment, Rexy tells Brady this time we're really gonna kick your ass. Brady then reminded Rexy what happened the last time he claimed such nonsense and, BOOM, Rexy twists his foot - toes and all - and there you have it. There's what caused the foot injury.

Foot injury? I doubt it had any effect in the loss since his best performances happened after the injury occured.

Brady is hurt every year. people think the pats are playin around by putting him on the injury report. the guy is still the best QB i ever seen and i wouldn't want anyone elseto lead a comeback. Pats just were not that great as a whole this year. Brady made it possible for them to finish as well as he did. they could have used Moss last weekend.

It's a shame that the Patriots are the only team in the playoffs with in injured player.  Seems like a good excuse for loosing.

Report: Tom Brady will have foot surgery Thursday

Please don't start this "speculation about the injury" stuff. We all, Patriots fans that is, blames last seasons loss to Brady's hurt ribs and his shoulder, or his hand, or something else... whatever. Please, can we not start blaming this loss on his foot injury? I haven't heard anyone from New England saying it, and now this article wants to write "there's ample speculation about whether or not Brady was bothered by the injury"...

Please, he put up MVP type numbers through half the season with that injury, then he ran into a stout Jets defense that wasn't playing around, and Brady didn't rise to the occassion, end of story, enough said. The last thing we need to start doing is putting some injury spin on a playoff whooping.
