Odds on who will be Cards next QB

The Arizona Republic has come up with an interesting way to determine who will be the Cardinals starting quarterback next season.

After the disaster of last season – Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton all spent some time at starting QB – the Cardinals undoubtedly will be looking for a way to upgrade that position this offseason.

The newspaper has come up with (for-entertainment-purposes-only) odds to try to figure out who will take over next season, and there are some intriguing names on that list.

Including Ravens backup QB Marc Bulger (2-to-1), Denver's Kyle Orton (8-1), Philadelphia's Kevin Kolb (15-1), Washington's Donovan McNabb (150-1) and former Titans QB Vince Young (1,000-1). Interestingly, the paper believes one of three rookies who have declared for the draft – Cam Newton, Ryan Mallett and Blaine Gabbert – has a better chance of starting at 70-1 than Hall does at 100-1.

Why not McNabb???

Doesn't McNabb have a home in AZ? Even if he doesn't, I think he would be the best option there. I would be shocked if he is at camp with the Redskins, especially given how they treated him at the end of the year. With the recievers that the Cards have, I think they wuld be the favorite to win the West if they could get McNabb.

They better get a qb that can read defenses.  If you draft a rookie you are going backwards.  If you want to move forward go get a veteran qb that can read defenses and get the ball to the wr's. A Matt Hassellback (could be a free agent), McNabb, (has a home in Arizona), would be the way to go because they can teach the younger qb's on the team how to be productive on and off the field.  Arizona is a good qb away from being back on the map.  Steve Breaston is a free agent so they are starting to loose players on the offensive side of the ball.  With that said they need to upgrade the wr position also because they need more than Larry at that spot.Cool

Ryan Mallett is the best choice.  He can throw it and Fitzgerald can catch it.  The only drawback, and it is big, is he will be a rookie, but he comes from a throwing college program.  Kevin Kolb and Kyle Orton would be great, but I doubt if either of their current teams would let them go unless they were highly compensated.  It is still hard that a team that had went to the Super bowl could be so bad at QB in 2010.  Maybe I am wrong, but it has always been my opinion that the QB position is the #1 priority for a pro football team.  to me, 2010 was a wasted season for Arizona.

Not quite the exact same team.  In 2006 it was his first crack, and he got smacked around pretty badly.  In 2007 that smacking around resulted in a broken collar bone.  After that he didn't play much and the team for lack of a better word, sucked.  I am not sure they were that good in 2006.

You comment on what warner did, but you are comparing an former SB MVP and League MVP, a guy whoi has lead a team to 3 Super Bowls and is very seasoned to a NFL Rookie.  Did you expect greatness?  Most NFL QBs don't even start for 2-3 years.

Gastrapod- id love to hear what u saw in matt leinart? was it his poor throwing or his poor accuracy? the fact he looked scared in the pocket and never called an audible? or is it the fact his qb ratings are in the toilet?

I never felt Matt Leinart was all that bad.  Think he will emerge as an NFL starter and have good success.  Not sure the Card decision making there.
