Titans backup QB Chris Simms today turned down a possible plea deal in his driving under the influence of marijuana charges, and his trial has been set for March 1, according to the Tennessean.

Simms If convicted, Simms could face up to a year in jail. If he had accepted the deal, he would have pleaded guilty to driving while impaired and would have been fined $500 with a 90-day suspension of his drivers license while having to perform five days of community service.

This is what Simms previously had told the Tennessean regarding the New York City police saying that Simms admitted to smoking marijuana.

"I can’t get into it, but what they have me quoted as saying is something I definitely didn’t say," Simms said. "I explained the story and exactly what happened to Coach (Jeff) Fisher. And Coach Fisher, if there is a coach to play for and be in that situation, he is the guy. I think he understood the dynamics of the story and hopefully he realized what kind of a guy I am. I just hope this thing goes away soon."

Chris Simms says no to deal, will face trial

Just another example of a SPOILED NNJ Rich kid growing up w privlidge and no parental supervision, then made out to be the next Joe Montana while in HS, and played at Texas because the ultimate BOOB ( Phil, the dryest TV Personna ever, seems like he is a wet blanket and sonnie boy was banging high priced call girls doing Blow with his click, and had Simms witnessed it, judgingby his lack of personality, I dont think the reaction wld act as a deterant..

Guys like this are drafted because of their fathers, and eeek out a caeer barely making a roster year in and out, yet make great money despite the fact he has a Liberal Arts Degree from U of T, w a minor in underwater basket weaving, this kid will forever have it made... Heis Todd Marinivich minus the meth ....

Driving under the influence of marijuana?  So he was going UNDER the speed limit and actually used his turn signal?   Oh the shame!
