This probably needed to be included in the 10 Super Bowl Stories You’ll Get Sick of Hearing : will Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey play in the Super Bowl?

The first-round rookie and Pro Bowler suffered a high ankle sprain in the first half against the Jets. (That’s actually good news – the injury looked much more serious than that.) Asked if he’ll play, Pouncey, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette , said, "Most definitely.

I had this same injury before on my other ankle and I know how to attack it. I know how to approach things. I know in my heart I'm playing in that game."

Asked about the pain he felt, Pouncey described it as “the worst ever”.

Steelers C Pouncey expects to be ready

Being a Packers fan, I am not sure if I like this news or not.  As a fan, every starter that is not playing for the Steelers gives the Packers a better opportunity for victory, but for true sportsmanship I would prefer both teams be at as close to full-strength as possible.
Appreciate your sentiments but football is a game of attrition. Haven't the Packer had some 14 or so players placed on IR? The Steelers have had six placed on IR. The Steelers have a 7th player who 31 other teams would have placed on IR, but Mike Tomlin has kept Aaron Smith on the roster even through he has not played since the 6th game of the season.

The bottom line is that the Steelers will have eleven players on the field at a time. They will be expected to perform. If Legursky has to play for Pouncey - then he will be the Steelers starting center that day and part of his job will be to call the line plays, handle Raji ... and make clean snaps. I of course would prefer Pouncey to be healthy enough to play; but if not so be it, the black and gold will have to beat the Pack with out him.

Pouncey a tough SOB? He has no structural damage but can't return to the game? Cutler has a level 2 MCL sprain and every jealous hack sitting at home on their couch has to Tweet about him? Pouncey and his rapist quarterback will hopefully lose in two weeks.
You are obviously a Browns fan. I remember Cleveland fans calling Terry Bradshaw soft after he came out of a game when Turkey Jones pile drove his head into the turf. Sounds like sorry grapes to me.

Look at the Steelers 2nd half production after he was out and that's all you need to know.  With him, the Steelers continue to march down the field and probably put up additional scores.
Tribe - I agree that Pouncey is our best lineman and it is important for him to play - but he got hurt on the first series. Mendenhall got a lot of his yardage after Maurkice was out of the game.

I hope he recovers quickly; but only give Greenbay a 3+ advantage to overcome if he is not.Wink

I have had an ACL tear and blowout and an MCL sprain.   Its not the pain.  IF you noticed Cutler wasnt wincing once.  Thats because its not very painful but here is an instability issue that makes you think your leg is going to give way.  Because it was a sprain it wouldnt give way but it is a very uncomfortable injury.   I think when Cutler is good, hes good.....has a cannon.   WHen hes bad hes atrocious.  With the sprain and his poor play I dont mind the decision to sit him out.  His demeanor was lifeless though.  He has a whatever attitude that could be good for quarterbacks so they have a short memory, but he lacks the passion and excitement of a humble person that does something special.  He thinks he is so much better than he is.  He has alot of work to do and I believe it wil take him a few years to accept without a super bowl, he just another promising good arm.  Hopefully not a Jeff George.
