M. Pouncey (US Presswire)Posted by Andy Benoit

Devastating news for the Steelers: center Maurkice Pouncey is out for Super Bowl XLV. The rookie Pro Bowler suffered a high left ankle sprain when Jets linebacker Bryan Thomas inadvertently rolled up on his leg during the AFC Championship. As we wrote earlier on Wednesday, Pouncey is on crutches and in a hard cast.

Guard Chris Kemoeatu spilled the beans  about Pouncey’s status. “We are definitely sad that he won’t be able to be with us in the Super Bowl,” Kemoeatu told Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Definitely I feel bad for him. We just have to win it for him.”

Doug Legursky, a third-year pro who was undrafted coming out of Marshall, will once again fill in. Legursky and Ben Roethlisberger had trouble with their snap exchange against New York. They now have two weeks to get that in order.

Pouncey’s absence hurts the offensive line’s mobility in the run game – a critical factor given that the way to attack Green Bay’s powerful front three is to force their 325-plus-pounders to play laterally. On the bright side, the Steelers at least won’t have to deal with the distraction of addressing Pouncey’s status every day for the next two weeks.

Not good news...but not horrendous either.  Legursky's main problem in the AFC Championship was communication with the QB, not line coordination or blocking.  And I would expect after two weeks he would be able to improve in all those areas.  Is he as good as Pouncey?  No (few are), but he's not some guy they pulled off the street either.

And as Kemoeatu says, this could add a little extra motivation for the Steelers (now 6 Pro Bowlers who have missed time this year or are out for the year).

Kemoeatu did back off these statements, so we'll have to see what else develops in this area (though he now reportedly has a fracture as well).

Not good news for the Steelers. The weak point got weaker. Legursky is going to have his hands full. Meaning he better hold on every play and hope he gets away with it.

The funny part of all of this is that I don't think he's innocent of anything... He may have done everything they've said and maybe worse.

I DON'T CARE!  That's my point... and I don't understand why you would...

I am a football fan. That's all.

The Steelers will have to pack a lunch with the GB... they are a good football team.

I couldn't care less about what these guys do in their spare time. If they commit a crime and get prosecuted for that and found guilty... Lock them up. I'm not going to stop watching them do what they are good at because of it. It makes no difference to the game of football that I am watching that particular Sunday.

Lambert... was an ass*ole. I know that because a friend of mine was his roommate at Kent and told me that was the case. I have a Lambert Jersey because he was an animal on the field.

Ben... is an ass*hole. I know that because he stiffed me on an $800 bar tab with a group of 20 of my friends...

So personally... I don't like him. But I DO NOT CARE. I hope he wins next Sunday.

It'd be cool to call home to a place that has only 600,000 or so residents... and 7 Superbowls.

Good luck to whatever team you follow... Maybe next year, they will win something.

Redwings, your statement should have just been everyone is guilty until proven innocent.  That would have sufficed. I see you believe in your own morals over the laws of the land, which is your right.  However, put your kid in an allstars shoes.  Everyone is so damn sue happy these days that anyone can make up anything about a public figure and they almost have to settle the stupid thing out of court and in civil court as the potential for damage is worse than just paying them off.  Say your son is innocent but public opinion states differently.  Well I guess it doesn't matter to you.  Your son must be guilty because someone said he is.

With all of this said, I must say that Ben is probably guilty and he never should have put himself in that situation.  A similar thing happened to Mark Chmura a few years back, although that was an underage girl and was even worse of him to be in that situation. Either way neither one was proven guilty and we should chastise them for even putting themselves in that situation but we can't say that they are guilty for sure.  The best we can say is he probably did it.

Since when does getting laid make one a scum bag... Does your list include Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, any number of other athletes who just happen to have not been demonized for having sex with someone other than their spouse.

Get a clue bud. That or come out of the closet. It's ok, God loves gay people too.
