Ah, who doesn’t love a good Twitter throw-down? Looks like we’ve got a pretty good one on our hands between Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck and Jets CB Antonio Cromartie.

Earlier today, as reported by Pro Football Talk, Hasselbeck tweeted the following: “Somebody ask Cromartie if he knows what CBA stands for.”

Then, Hasselbeck quickly deleted it. It appeared Hasselbeck was taking a shot at Cromartie – and possibly at his nine-kids-by-eight-mothers career – after Cromartie bitched about the labor negotiations between the NFLPA and owners and called union leadership an a------.

Now, Cromartie has responded in kind. Wrote Cromartie: “hey Matt if u have something to then say it (sic) be a man about it. Don't erase it. I will smash ur face in.”

Now, all eyes turn to boxing promoter Don King. When can we get these guys in the ring? After all, we’ll need something to watch/cover when the players are locked out.

UPDATE (3:38 p.m.):
Bad news for those looking for a fight. Tweeted Hasselbeck: "Sorry for the joke man. No hard feelings. DB's & QB's have a hard time getting along I guess sometimes. lol"

On a side note to CrownNipper, Elizabeth is married to Tim, not Matt.  You were right that they could make it a family event, but I am sure that your witty little comment was under the impression that Matt and Elizabeth were married.  Witty comments are funny, when they are correct.

and called union leadership an a------.

I'd have to agree with Cromartie on this one.

I'd be fired and arrested

If I told another employee at my company I was going to smash their face in, I'd be fired and most likely arrested.  Maybe some prison time would be good for Cromartie.  A year in the clink would prevent at least 6 more bastard kids.

Hahahaha, i wish i followed twitter just so I could have re tweeted that to everyone. But Hasselbeck, I dont think Cromartie is all the bright and might actually smash your face in if you gave him the chance,  so maybe lay off for your own safety...

Wow!! Have we become a country of drama queens. Hasselbeck just cracked a joke over this twitter thing, quickly realized how people would make it seem more like a dig, rather than a joke, and took it off. It's that simple. Maybe he didn't have enuogh letters to put in Rogers-Cromartie??? Huh??? Store that one away for a rainy day.

Notorious89, I disagree.  Cromartie was putting his thoughts out there on the labor issue.  I don't think what I said was inconsistent at all.  Hasslebeck, on the other hand, took a personal shot at one guy.  Pretty different, in my opinion.  I don't disagree that all might be better if Cromartie decided to keep his mouth shut.  But if someone takes a personal shot at you via Twitter, I for one don't think the guy who comes back with a threat is really that out of line.  Did he take the high road?  No.  Were his comments justified?  I think maybe so.  I still think Hasslebeck is the one that came out of this looking more like a punk.

Cromartie cannot be illiterate.  He went to college at Florida State.

Waterboarding and Elizabeth

You know that torture-supporting, brown-skinned-children-killing-for-

black-gold Elizabeth is pushing Matt to water board Cromartie.  They could make it a family event!
