Pouncey won't play after all

Despite saying last week that he would play in the Super Bowl, Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey won’t participate because of his high ankle sprain and the broken bone in his ankle, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Pouncey
That means Doug Legursky – who took over for Pouncey after he was injured in the AFC championship game and struggled (sometimes, even snapping the ball) – will take the start instead.

That can’t thrill Ben Roethlisberger, considering Legursky will have to spend part of his time fending off Packers NT B.J. Raji.

Pouncey won't play after all

Obviously you didn't see the game Josh, because the steelers finsihed with close to 200 yards rushing, almost 150 of it coming AFTER pouncey went down.
Um, vegasrugger, I am certainly not defending jeff candy at ALL, but you should also be a bit objective...Rothlisberger got hit often and could have ended up throwing 4 or 5 picks in that game after Legursky came in.

Plus, how many points did the Steelers score in that second half? That's right, none They were shut out. You can't make the claim that :egursky was very effective with those numbers. Also, Ngata is a different player than Raji....with a different style. Playing against one tough DL does not mean that you "know how" to handle a different one.

Frankly,I think it will be tought for Legursky but he will be decent. The center not only blocks but makes to protection calls as well - and while the Jets did hit Ben, they are not a great pass rushing team, while the Packers have some real blue chip pass rushers....

Legursky was a little shaky honestly, because he had a few bad snaps and a few missed blocking assignments....but he will have 2 weeks to practice, so I anticipate he will be better - but who knows? It is about chemistry too.

We will see

Pouncey won't play after all

I might be missing something about the IR rules, but why doesn't Tomlin come to terms with the fact the Pouncey and Aaron Smith won't be able to play and put them on IR?  That way they can fill the roster with a couple healthy bodies just in case and bring them in to get some work this week.

Pouncey won't play after all

It always sucks when a player has played hard all season and has to miss a big game like the superbowl.  It REALLY sucks when that player is in his first year.  This is a difficult league to adjust to.  many "can't miss" players do "miss".  Pouncey played great all year and deserved to play.  THAT is the real tradegy here.

Pouncey won't play after all

Most of us true Packer fans are not going to go on here and talk trash about the Steelers.  Most of us, the ones I know at least, didn't want to play the Steelers in the SB becauase we know they would be the toughest out of the AFC to beat.
Props to the Steelers for getting there because they deserved it.
I won't comment on Pouncey other than to say the Steelers have way fewer men on IR than the Pack.  If anything this only equalizes the game a little more.  The Steelers still have the edge when it comes to having all their starters in the game.
Should be a good one though.  Two good teams going at it.  Two good defenses with two really good QB's.
Lets hope for a nail biter to make it worth watching from opening kickoff to the final "V" formation by GB.

SEXY SUPERBOWL

Wow this is great. I love both of these teams. Mzke no mistake, I am a HUGE Steelers fan but I really like the Pack. With Pouncey out you have to give the edge to GB but I hope out defense rises up as they have so many times and deliver the win. Lets just call it the stairway to seven!!!!!!!!!! Big Bens number is 7. Coincidence? I think not!

Pouncey won't play after all

Here we go boys! Media week is upon us. Less than 7 days to hopfully, one of the best superbowls ever. I feel really bad for Poucey, its hard to get to the big game, and he deserved to get his chance, but, thats the way life goes sometimes, you give thanks, and hope for another shot! Hang in there Mo Po we will try and get you another shot.

With the amount of practice time Ben and Mr. Legursky will have leading up to the game there might actually be some benefit to having him start in place of the rookie. Now before you all gang up on me, let me explain. The obvious reason is the rookie jitters, including focus and preperation, and the ability to block all else out. I know Pouncey is a better player, but, i'm positive LEGO will be ready.

And as far as candyjeff goes, I have been waiting to bump in to one of you for a long time. You see Jeff is a Cowboys fan, that explains the Steeler frustration in his words. I am so glad that the fans of that mess in the loner state would rather cheer for an arch rival, either way, someone not to their liking is going to raise the Lombardi in their building..OUCH.

Good luck Packers, one of the only teams in the NFC that I like(my sons favourite team), and lets have the best superbowl ever!!

GO Steelers!!
