DALLAS -- The Steelers made their way into town (technically, Fort Worth, but you get the point) on Monday, and one of the highlights of Mike Tomlin's initial press conferences with the media was the state of rookie center Maurkice Pouncey.

Pouncey, as we all know, is unlikely to play. However, Tomlin, despite the fact that Pouncey was transported on a golf cart while holding crutches (see: right), remained optimistic about the possibility that his rookie center could play.

"We’re just trying to everything in our power to give him the best opportunity to participate," Tomlin said in his press conference on Monday. "I don’t know what his chances are at this point, to be quite honest with you. He is not on a running clock in my mind until Wednesday, when you start getting along in your normal preparation.

The Steelers coach also indicated that the team would be "aggressive" in trying to get the rookie center ready to roll for the Super Bowl, which just so happens to be in less than seven days.

He wouldn't, however, confirm the rumors of a broken bone in Pouncey's ankle, admitting only that there was a sprain.

"Of course he has a high-ankle sprain," Tomlin said. "We’ve been very aggressive in terms of treating it, even putting him in a hard cast and so forth."

Actually, the issue appears to be that the Steelers will be even more depleted at offensive line than possibly thought when they take the field on Sunday against the Packers. And the biggest issue in Tomlin's search for a second championship in three years, is that Doug Legursky will be the center in charge of keeping B.J. Raji and the rest of Green Bay's front seven at bay.

Gasman, you know a lot about one thing...here it comes...gas!

Legursky only played the second half of the AFC championship and he sucked...all Fumble Mendenhall's yards came in the first half.

Also, Legursky was directly responsible for the Squealers LOSING the super bowl. (insert Big Ben interception here)

The Squealers losing the Super Bowl was maybe better than the Ravens winning the Super Bowl...I love to rub it in to you Tomlin's out there.  Can't stop talking when you win, can't stop bitching when you lose!!

F Pittsburgh!

You know nothing....Cowhers last season, the Steelers were 8-8.  Hear that, 8-8.  Is that inheriting a Super Bowl team?  And he didn't have Cowher's coaches either.  LeBeau stayed as DC, but Wisenhunt and Grimm left for Arizona...that year!  They NEVER coached with Tomlin.  You have inside info about him not wanting to draft Woodley and Timmons?  Who did HE want to draft then?

I can't wait to hear this....

Too cocky?  More than Rex Ryan? Wow are you dillusional!

BTW...Tomlin doesn't "tell" Kevin Colbert or the Rooney's who he wants to draft.  Cowher didn't either.

will be the center in charge of keeping and the rest of Green Bay's front seven at bay.

Pouncey will not play and should not.  If you ever suffer a high ankle sprain, the doctors will tell you that it is better to have a broken bone as opposed to a severe ligament sprain...the healing time is longer and you won't think about participating in anything that involves running, not to mention hitting.  You might consider a game of jacks or mumbly peg.

what a horrible post that makes no sense.  where are wisenhunt and grimm now?     Tomlin has no say in his draft picks.  Lots of coaches dont want guys drafted but get them anyway.

I really hope the Steelers don't win, basically because I don't think Tomlin deserves any of the credit for the last championship.
That was Cowher's team, Cowher's coaches, etc.
I don't like him as a coach...way too cocky...more so than even Rex Ryan.
I don't want Tomlin to get recognition that solely goes to Dick LeBeau.  Tomlin didn't even want to draft Woodley or Timmons (arguably two of their best young defensive players) Steelers fans can thank their stars the front office isn't listening to this guy in terms of coaches or draft picks or trades.
No wonder Wisenhunt and Grimm took off.

Yes, alot of the Steelers were wearing Flozel Adams's college shirt to show support of him getting to his first Super Bowl after being in the league forever. It was a surprise for him at the airport...pretty cool.

Many of the Steelers lineman wore Mich. St. jerseys for Flozell Adams......since he is the elder statesmen of the team and he is returning to Dallas.....Go Burgh!!
