Bill Belichick has been announced the AP 2010 Coach of the Year. Belichick led a young, perhaps even “rebuilding” Patriots team to an NFL-best 14-2 record.

Belichick’s signature moment in his coaching output this season was trading deep threat Randy Moss to Minnesota. The gamble rewrote much of New England’s playbook and put additional stock in rookie tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

Belichick, of course, is best known for his defensive work. The Patriots only had three players maintain their starting job for the entire season (Pro Bowlers Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo and Devin McCourty).

The rest of the unit was a mixture of retread veterans, roles players and undrafted rookies. Yet, the Patriots D improved by the week and finished eighth in points allowed.

This is Belichick’s third Coach of the Year award.

We gathered a bunch of astounding indications truth be told there. I conducted another look up across the dilemmas and so learnt nearly all ancestors will probably come to an understanding from the running a blog website page.

FAIL.

Prove Bill cheated THIS SEASON. You can't. Without proof, you can't remove a guy's name from consideration.

Just like there are spouses who give their cheating spouse another shot. And alcoholics attempt to stay dry.

So, once again - prove the man cheated in this year. THEN you can take away the award. Until then, he's innocent until proven otherwise. It's a yearly-basis award. They weren't voting for 2006's award here. It's 2010. Hit fast forward and join us.

And you missed the point - show me some proof that he cheated THIS YEAR... aside from "some former teammates" which is a bogus statement. What, did a guy cut from the practice squad get mad for losing his job or something? Without any solid evidence to show, you can't remove a man's name from consideration.

And he gets a pass because, frankly, most people believe that the majority of NFL teams do something shady. Messing with injury reports (which Bill does... has Tom Brady ever been off of the injury report) - well Minnesota got caught doing that. Tripping players... well hey, that's a now-former Jets coach. Illegal cameras... hello Denver's former coach. The mere suspicion that there's a lot of weird substances going around. You only get villified if your team has any success. And what did it take? A former employee with an axe to grind turning Bill in to the NFL. And what happens? Jimmy Johnson says it's no big deal. Herm Edwards said he would "wave to the cameras." Etc. And the Patriots still got fined and lost a top draft pick.

And get for real - you're trying to defend the Pro Bowl, where the top names constantly pull out because they don't want to possibly get injured playing in a meaningless game. People don't even tune into the Pro Bowl, period. One could even argue that Bill did the players a favor by not calling in a potentially dangerous pile-up play like an onside kick. So please, stop trying to defend an All-Star game like it's the Super Bowl. It's a trip to Hawaii and a bonus check. They can't even play real defense with all-out blitzes and whatnaught. Sounds kind of like limiting curve balls in Little League to me.

And there's a reason why your post only got a score of 12 @BostonBrawler --

1. New England beat Green Bay when they didn't have Aaron Rodgers at QB, and still got pushed to the brink with Matt Flynn
2. They beat a banged up Chargers team, where a really terrible call by Belichick was not capitalized on by SD to win the game.
3. They beat a banged up Colts team, where Manning threw one of his 11 picks in 3 games to end the game.
4. Chicago's defense is TERRIBLE, they also gave up 31 points to the Jets
5. Baltimore beat themselves that game because Flacco and Harbaugh don't know how to close out games unless they are ahead by 100 points
6. Can't count the Jets because they also lost to the Jets
7. Pittsburgh was probably the only legitimate win I'll give them

Let's see

They beat Buffalo TWICE, almost losing once
They beat Cincinatti
They LOST to Cleveland, and the Jets
They beat Detroit and Minnesota
And beat Miami twice

So what did Belichick really do other than beat up on bad teams?  I can think of at least 5 different coaches that deserve the title over him, but not in any particular order

1. Todd Haley = took a disastrous team to the playoffs in his second year
2. Lovie Smith = won the NFC North with the same team that went 7-9 last year
3. Mike Tomlin = Missing Roethlisberger for the first four weeks of the year, and still finished 12-4
4. Mike McCarthy = Kept his team in the playoff hunt even after a league high 16 players went on IR
5. Mike Smith = Knocked off the Super Bowl champs in the South with a tremendous home record and earned the #1 seed
6. Andy Reid = Juggled a testy QB situation, came from behind against the Giants to win the East in that big 38-31 win at the Meadowlands
