If you were among the tweeters who questioned Jay Cutler's heart, there might be more egg to put on your face. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times is reporting that Cutler received a painkilling injection at halftime of the NFC Championship. Doctors were ruling Cutler out but he wanted to try and give it a go.

Jensen says it is believed Cutler was injured on the first play of the second quarter when Packers defensive lineman Ryan Pickett landed on his knee.

Jensen says the Bears reportedly tried to shelve Cutler at that point, but Cutler insisted on playing.

A skeptical but fair question, however, is if Cutler did indeed receive a shot and try to fight through the pain, why didn’t the Bears share this information afterward? True, teams don’t generally talk about painkilling injections. But in this case, their quarterback’s reputation was on the line.

Of course, Cutler himself never mentioned a painkiller.

This just in....Maurice Jones-Drew is not funny.  Of ALL the NFL players to be criticizing Cutler, Maurice Jones-Drew should be the last. Didn't he miss the last 2 games of the season? Last I recall, the Jags were in the playoff hunt up till the end. Too bad MJD didnt have it in him to play through his injury and help his team make the playoffs. Pot, meet Kettle!

Looks like a lot of spinning going on, but a week and a half later? Typical McCaskeyville.

Cant even watch NFL network highlights just because I got sick of hearing him yelling something really stupid in the middle of them, then trying to look like the brains of the operation when they cut back to him. CBS was right when they canned him.

Chicago Sun Times---Left wing, rag newspaper.  The Bears NEVER reported this and neither did Cutler's BIGGEST Defender, Urlacher.  Don't buy it.

Report: Cutler received painkilling injection

I think that it is crazy that people questioned this guy's heart - I think that he is a very serious QB and he has a lot of talent.  I think that the Bears need to give Cutler more weapons and one or two new linemen and this offense will be well above average.  I don't think he faked any of his injury whatsoever.  In high school I hurt myself during a game and I played through it - if I had quit when I had the pain I would have had a severe sprain of my MCL - instead I nearly dislodged the entire ligament and did not play football during my senior year in high school and as a result, likely cost myself an opportunity to play college football.  Only people know their own limitations - it's hard to fake injuries in football so I believe Cutler.
