Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

The comments on this article should range nicely from "STEELER SUX" to "STOP WASTING MY TIME, LOSER," but it warrants mentioning, I think, that Ben Roethlisberger was reportedly out getting a little loose at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar in Fort Worth where the Steelers are staying this week.

Yes, that report does come via TMZ.com, and, no Ben doesn't do anything stupid. Unless you count choosing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" as his selection during the karaoke session he and "two massive teammates" held from 11:00 PM until 1:15 AM.

People inside the bar told TMZ that Ben was "nice, fun and took care of everyone" -- reportedly he bought several rounds for the entire bar. (And presumably, that was so some jerk wouldn't sell video of him singing to TMZ for $5,000.)

Look, this video, which you have to assume is going to make the rounds Thursday, is really only a big deal because of circumstance.

Ben got in trouble for some pretty nasty allegations that occurred while he was partying too hard in some random, podunk town in Georgia. Ergo, when people Ben's supposed to be in Dallas and focused and renewed and changed and all that stuff.

That doesn't mean that Ben has to go to church every night or go rescue orphans in between Super Bowl practices. Expecting that out of him would be a bit much.

And it's also pretty fine for the guy to cut loose a little bit by enjoying a reasonably quiet evening on the town. But given all that's happened over the last year, it's surprising to see him even risk the potential of public discussion about his behavior in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Because regardless of the thought process behind his behavior and whether or not belting out Billy Joel tunes at 1:00 AM in a Piano Bar in a day and age when everyone has a camera phone actually affects his on-field performance, if the Steelers end up losing, people will want to know why he wasn't spending the week getting more prepared.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Hopefully the girl was able to extort some cash from Ben, because, yeah, there's no way she wins in court. She'd get dragged around in the media and on TMZ and Ben would move on as long as he can throw touchdown passes. I've always been a fan of the Steelers organization, but they are "stuck" with this high talent zero class animal as the focal point of their organization. In a way, I feel sorry for the Steelers fans. Really? You root for this guy? Uch. It's tough enough rooting for Jay Cutler and Lovie Smith, because they are emotionless characters at the leadership positions in an emotional sport. But, the Steelers have it worse. They have a true 'wipe leading their team, and they have no way to get rid of him - he's just too good of a quarterback.

Don't worry Jetsfan10, I have a lot more sense than to complain about something so inconsequential and pointless

You won't see a civil suit either, because then her argument that she didn't want to have to face the press as the reason to drop the charges against Roethlisberger, would be bogus.  In other words, she didn't want to face the press when it came to putting the man away, however, she's willing to do it for money?

You'll probably see a civil law suit, and rightly so.  You're a big Ben fan so you can't see straight and you don't understand the difference between civil and criminal.   She didn't file criminal charges because to beat Ben they have to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt... very tough without an eyewitness to do, especially when the person you're charging is filthy rich with unlimited resources.   In a civil suit all of the circumstantial evidence comes into play and the "beyond a reasonable doubt" thing doesn't apply.....

There are no other "cases" other then these two.  The one that "supposedly" was mentioned by the lawyer was brought up by the family of a girl, not the victim herself...and it was a civil case (money) ... not criminal.

Oh yeah, there is one more civil case you forgot coming up.  And no, it's not a rape accusation but it's a civil case and once again it's against Big Ben.   He walked into a nice restaurant with some girls.  The manager dared to ask Ben's little whores for i.d... that was a no-no. Guess why it was a no-no?  Ben just happens to golf with the president of the company and is good friends with him.  Well, the next day the guy was fired.... of course they can't tell him it was for that reason..... and of course you idiots will tell me that I don't know why he was fired and say it was coincidence the guy got fired after years of good service and right after Ben filed a complaint.... but hey,  what can I say?? Big Ben has some pretty bad luck I guess.... everybody is after him ......  I guess he's the only athlete out there rich enough to go after right?

Denied everything, and has lawyers working as we speak to dig up dirt on the women who havent dropped their cases against him.

Ummm...actually the DA in Georgia stated in his press conference that the victim sent a letter asking to have the charges dropped against him.  Though it was said it was because of the attention in the press that this would bring her.  Now she still maintains that Ben raped her but didn't want to press charges and I can buy that.  Yet also on the other hand, what if he didn't do it, could she actually come out and say "well, I was wrong, he didn't rape me"...after the man's name had been dragged through the mud, it would be worse for her to admit it.  1) She'd be guilty of filing a false police report and 2) she would be facing a hell of a slander/libel lawsuit.

You won't see a civil suit either, because then her argument that she didn't want to have to face the press as the reason to drop the charges against Roethlisberger, would be bogus.  In other words, she didn't want to face the press when it came to putting the man away, however, she's willing to do it for money?  So yeah, she technically did drop the case against him.

The first one, yeah, the lawsuit is still pending against Ben (never once was a police report filed though-even though she supposedly still had the clothes she worn and even though Nevada's statute of limitation on rape is 7 years)...as well as the lawsuit against 8 Harrah employees and Harrah's as a corporation.  Now in this instance, had it only been against Ben then I'd raise an eyebrow...but when your talking multi-million dollar lawsuits in a so called major conspiracy to conceal a rape...(After all, we're talking Roethlisberger, not Hugh Hefner).

There are no other "cases" other then these two.  The one that "supposedly" was mentioned by the lawyer was brought up by the family of a girl, not the victim herself...and it was a civil case (money) ... not criminal.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

This picture of Big Ben in this story is so friggin' funny, I have to scroll past it real fast to stop from busting my guts.

It just makes him look like "man I'm screwed".

So true man.  It's like he's thinking, "what the **** was I thinking going to that bar"?

Whether he rapes girls or not ( personally I think he did, especially the last girl) he's gotta be the dumbest mother ****** I've ever seen or heard of in my entire life.

It's Superbowl week and the moron goes to a bar?  Sure, I believe he didn't do anything crazy at the bar... probably didn't break any laws... I mean, could he be THAT stupid??  Nahhhh.. not even Big Ben could be that dumb.....

If I was him with everything he's gone through the last year or two and somebody even asked me to go to a bar during Superbowl week, I'd punch them in the head.....

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Hey thanks Redwing... I try a bit at the comic relief bit.

Some times you just can't be too serious.

Also.

How about the media???

If the story is about you being a stud, they find a picture that really shows your good side.

In stark contrast, when they are picking on you, like alot of George Bush pictures when he was the Pres...

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

First of all every one desevves a second chance.
even Jeffery Dahmer? What about serial rapists or serial killers.... do people who commit suicide get a 2nd chance? Not according to the bible.. if you are a believer.

I just can't understand why Michael Vick is a feel good story and Ben is the devil.
Let me try and help you understand.... One admitted wrong doing, faced his crimes and did his time. The other pled the 5th, and got a lawyer to start a smear campaign similar to that of Kobe Bryant. If the girls are whores... they deserved what Ben gave them right?

One was in a federal prision the other had no charges filed .
Mike Tyson served federal prison time, O.J. Simpson had to pay the Brown and Goldman families money and spent no time... who do you think is the better person.. or will you act democratic and say they are both horrible poeple? How can you compare apples to oranges?

They  both made mistakes in the public eye one seems to be forgiven the other still seams to be the Villian. Why is that?
After several allegations, Mike Vick turned over the documents the FBI was asking for, and accepted their plea aggreement. Did his time, and now is doing everything possible to show he has changed, and is trying to improve his public image by volunteering at many anti-animal abuse functions and fund raisers.

Ben in stark contrast, has pled the 5th. Denied everything, and has lawyers working as we speak to dig up dirt on the women who havent dropped their cases against him.

Ben can still vote and own a gun if he choices.
Chooses... but I'm not here to be the spelling police. Just because Vick was stripped of some civil liberties does not put him in the category of a sex offender, convicted or accused. He's a recovering animal abuser turned animal rights activist. He isnt in denial, he is in recovery.

Michael Vick can do neither but he is given the second chance.
Didn't you start your comment by saying everyone deserves a 2nd chance? Also, Mike Vick earned his second chance by comming clean.

Not judging either everyone deserves a second chance.  Not sure why one who was convicted and the other wasn't. But one is the feel good and the other is the devil.  I strongly disagree with what eacch "did or didn't do"
Doesn't really seem like it to me sir. Seems like you disagree with the negativity surrounding an accused sex offender, also... he was accused more than just one time... seems dirty. Not saying he did it, just saying, people have the right to their opinion. There is a thing called guilt by association, and if you continue to get accused of the same thing, over and over since college... its starts to become a pattern of behavior.

Kinda like his desire to bar hop, and sing Karaoke. lmao
