Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

The comments on this article should range nicely from "STEELER SUX" to "STOP WASTING MY TIME, LOSER," but it warrants mentioning, I think, that Ben Roethlisberger was reportedly out getting a little loose at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar in Fort Worth where the Steelers are staying this week.

Yes, that report does come via TMZ.com, and, no Ben doesn't do anything stupid. Unless you count choosing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" as his selection during the karaoke session he and "two massive teammates" held from 11:00 PM until 1:15 AM.

People inside the bar told TMZ that Ben was "nice, fun and took care of everyone" -- reportedly he bought several rounds for the entire bar. (And presumably, that was so some jerk wouldn't sell video of him singing to TMZ for $5,000.)

Look, this video, which you have to assume is going to make the rounds Thursday, is really only a big deal because of circumstance.

Ben got in trouble for some pretty nasty allegations that occurred while he was partying too hard in some random, podunk town in Georgia. Ergo, when people Ben's supposed to be in Dallas and focused and renewed and changed and all that stuff.

That doesn't mean that Ben has to go to church every night or go rescue orphans in between Super Bowl practices. Expecting that out of him would be a bit much.

And it's also pretty fine for the guy to cut loose a little bit by enjoying a reasonably quiet evening on the town. But given all that's happened over the last year, it's surprising to see him even risk the potential of public discussion about his behavior in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Because regardless of the thought process behind his behavior and whether or not belting out Billy Joel tunes at 1:00 AM in a Piano Bar in a day and age when everyone has a camera phone actually affects his on-field performance, if the Steelers end up losing, people will want to know why he wasn't spending the week getting more prepared.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Freeneyblitz.  I was only allowed to give you 5 stars.  If I could, I'd give you 100 stars for that post.  It's the funniest I've read in a long time.  It's actually worth some money..... it's that good.

Personally, nobody I've ever known or hung out with in my life went to karaoke bars and sang while sipping ice water. Consider this is a jock that can't keep his **** in his pants and loves to party,  what you said becomes even funnier.

They say gay men in denial will often take their frustrations out on unsuspecting women in an attempt to deflect the actual issue of being a dong bonger...

Too funny man.... good for you !  LOL

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

You should read Jason Whitlock's article on this on the FOX NFL site.  Very interesting perspective from an African American.  In a nutshell, he believes that Goodell used Roethlisberger to deflect allegations that the discipline fell disproportionately on AA players.  He's Goodell's White "ace in the hole" (paGerdon the pun).

Get off these boards dude.  What happened to Ben had NOTHING to do with race.  It had to do with an immature moron that at the very least was stupid enough to put himself in a terrible position not once, but twice in just one calendar year.  And at worst raped one or two woman in a year.... take your pick.  But either way, it's not about race...

People like you make me sick. And don't tell me you were just talking about something somebody else wrote because the second you said it was "interesting" makes you just as dumb as the guy that wrote it.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Karaoke???

One more time... Karaoke???

Also, someone said he wasn't drunk.... just buying rounds for the house right?

If he wasn't drunk, then he is not only an accused sex offender, he is also a NERD!!!!

Sorry, but only real nerds and wanna be American Idol contestants go out and sing Karaoke while drinking soda or water...

The guy is a jock. He damn well better have been drinking or I just lost respect for him in an entirely different way than the rape accusations.

Lets recap here....

Accused sex offender.

Career bar hopper.

and now... sober Karaoke singer?

OMG... he may be comming out of the closet soon. They say gay men in denial will often take their frustrations out on unsuspecting women in an attempt to deflect the actual issue of being a dong bonger...

Let just wait and see I guess. Perhaps he will be a guest star on the next season of Glee?

Hmmmm

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

A lot of you are not getting the point. The point is it's Super Bowl week and he's Ben Roethlisberger. Gotta be smarter than this...go find somewhere else to hang out and get home early. The last place he should be this week is at a BAR. Of course this is going to cause a stir, who is dumb enough to think otherwise (er, Roethlisberger...)?

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

First of all every one desevves a second chance.  I just can't understand why Michael Vick is a feel good story and Ben is the devil.  One was in a federal prision the other had no charges filed . They  both made mistakes in the public eye one seems to be forgiven the other still seams to be the Villian. Why is that?  Ben can still vote and own a gun if he choices. Michael Vick can do neither but he is given the second chance.  Not judging either everyone deserves a second chance.  Not sure why one who was convicted and the other wasn't. But one is the feel good and the other is the devil.  I strongly disagree with what eacch "did or didn't do"

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Anyway, according to PTI on ESPN, he took his offensive line out to DINNER at this place and they stayed to sing a little.  BFD.  Last time I checked, there was nothing in the league policy that prohibits going out.  As a matter of fact, PTI also reports he made curfew,s sober.  So....maybe this is evidence of his 'changes' - that he can go out, have a drink or two with his team mates, and make curfew without getting arrested or filmed falling down drunk?

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Has anyone thought about the fact that Big Ben has already won 2 Super Bowls and it is quite possible that since IMO they are the UNDERDOG that maybe they are purposely tryign to lull the Pack into thinking they are INDEED the FAVORITES!!??  THIS IS THE PACKERS GAME TO LOSE......ALL THE PRESSURE IS ON THEM!
