Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

The comments on this article should range nicely from "STEELER SUX" to "STOP WASTING MY TIME, LOSER," but it warrants mentioning, I think, that Ben Roethlisberger was reportedly out getting a little loose at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar in Fort Worth where the Steelers are staying this week.

Yes, that report does come via TMZ.com, and, no Ben doesn't do anything stupid. Unless you count choosing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" as his selection during the karaoke session he and "two massive teammates" held from 11:00 PM until 1:15 AM.

People inside the bar told TMZ that Ben was "nice, fun and took care of everyone" -- reportedly he bought several rounds for the entire bar. (And presumably, that was so some jerk wouldn't sell video of him singing to TMZ for $5,000.)

Look, this video, which you have to assume is going to make the rounds Thursday, is really only a big deal because of circumstance.

Ben got in trouble for some pretty nasty allegations that occurred while he was partying too hard in some random, podunk town in Georgia. Ergo, when people Ben's supposed to be in Dallas and focused and renewed and changed and all that stuff.

That doesn't mean that Ben has to go to church every night or go rescue orphans in between Super Bowl practices. Expecting that out of him would be a bit much.

And it's also pretty fine for the guy to cut loose a little bit by enjoying a reasonably quiet evening on the town. But given all that's happened over the last year, it's surprising to see him even risk the potential of public discussion about his behavior in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

Because regardless of the thought process behind his behavior and whether or not belting out Billy Joel tunes at 1:00 AM in a Piano Bar in a day and age when everyone has a camera phone actually affects his on-field performance, if the Steelers end up losing, people will want to know why he wasn't spending the week getting more prepared.

First of all, Bloodpee & dolphinAtic are complete idiots. Just goes to prove just because you can use a computer doesn't necessarily make you somewhat smart. The guy went out WITH TEAMMATES to have a beer. Oh how unusual...you people must live really exciting lives. In fact, why don't you get one LOSERS. Steelers win 27-20.

I agree with you.  Who cares if he is having a few drinks or a good time.  Its not like everyone gets to the superbowl every year (nevermind this is his 3rd time). However, whats the difference if he was at the bar doing this stuff or sitting in his room playing rockband with hookers and blow.  Most likely the public would never find out about that.  I think that the media blows things out of proportion and lastly let the guy live his life.  Those guys don't interfere with our lives cuz they could really give two sh*ts.

Just leave Big Ben alone.. he is the only QB that keeps winning however his performance is usually marginal. Can't wait to see him throw 14-29 for 185 yards and 1TD to win over all arms Rogers.

Will, I obviously do not know you, but this "report" is nothing more than attempt to make a story out of nothing. You're simply throwing crap against the wall to see if anything sticks. Having a few drinks with teammates at a karaoke bar is not news. Now if he was dancing with several women in a roped-off section, and generally being a ego-driven, entitled a-hole...well, THAT might be a story. But this is terrible "journalism" to even suggest he is back to his old ways and not taking the Super Bowl seriously.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

Max McGee partied all night before Super Bowl I and had the game of his career.

I agree though, the people who come here and post that people shouldn't make a big deal out of this are the ones who have made a big deal oout of this. Look at the pages and pages of posts. It's a big deal if people make it a big deal. So I guess it is a big deal.

Roethlisberger partying during Super Bowl week?

I'm glad you didn't focus this article on bashing him for this. The fact that he is still out enjoying himself should tell everyone what they need to know, he is not worried about these previous allegations because they are probably not true. He is just enjoying himself like everyone other citizen of the United States has the right to do. He is a human being, he needs to relax and enjoy himself. Whether he drank a couple nights of the week or not, he's going to show up Sunday with the same exact mindset and do they same exact thing either way, whether it be win or lose.
