Report: Fitz gave Cards a list of QBs he wants

Larry Fitzgerald is heading into the final year of his contract and he's made it clear that he wants to stay in Arizona. If they give him a lot of money. And if they get him a quarterback who will help the team win.

He's reportedly gotten even more specific, too, naming Kevin Kolb and Marc Bulger as guys he wants in Phoenix, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kolb is apparently Fitz' top choice, but the most glaring part of the report is the lack of Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton and Donovan McNabb on the list.

McNabb should be one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market, despite his age and poor 2010 performance, but the Cardinals aren't a team that's been considered likely to show any interest in him, should the Redskins end up not picking up his option.

Kolb's a nice target, but the problem is the Eagles will probably want a first-round draft pick in exchange for their talented backup signal caller. (Which would mean if the Cards give Fitzgerald everything he wants, they're going to severely hamper themselves long-term.)

Bulger's a much more realistic target, obviously, because he's simply the backup in Baltimore.

Either way, though, the Cardinals would be heavily catering to a single player's demands and still leaving themselves open to a nightmare situation if either Bulger (he is old) or Kolb (he is still somewhat unproven) didn't work out in 2011.

Kolb or Bulger over McNabb....really L Fitz?    Wow.....I guess all those years of being behind shaky QB's has made his brain shrink some.  Kolb is suspect under pressure and Bulger is a backup for a reason...cmon L Fitz, get it together and plead for McNabb for atleast one year.

Matt Flynn will be a name that gets some attention this off season. Not sure if the packers will trade him for anything less then a high draft choice but that kid has some skills!

How is giving up a first round pick for a young, starting QB a bad idea? The guy was picked 36 overall in the 2007 draft. Kolb is only 26 and is better, at least right now, than any QB in the draft. Trading a first round pick for Kolb is smarter than spending a first round pick on Ryan Mallet or Jake Locker. It's even smarter if by trading the pick they can lock up Fitz in a long term deal.

I think it COULD be considered outrageous if he said he demanded insanely hard to obtain quarterbacks...but he asked for Kevin Kolb for crying out loud!!! He doesn't want to make it impossible for the franchize to keep him and this is why he is asking for a lower tier QB. As a Philly fan I can say the Kolb is promising, and with more experience in the NFL then, ALL of the QB's in the draft I'd say that giving up a 1st round pick isn't crazy. Fitz is the only player left on your team worth anything and in his contract year I don't want a rook thorwing him the ball. Bulger I think is through and I don't expect the Cardinals to make any moves towards him. But look at it this way, McNabb was in Philly for years and never complained about the recievers he was given, then the one year he did he was given TO and look what happened!! Super Bowl appearance. Now I'm not trying to say that trading for Kolb will get the Cardinals to another Super Bowl, I'm just saying that a fairly young guy with a reciever like Fitz is a great QB-WR tandem to move along their obvious rebuilding period. Just a few more examples of teams that went out and got young guys to play QB or WRand were somewhat successful,  both draft obtains and FA:
Matt Ryan - Roddy White
Matt Cassel - Dwayne Bowe
Chad Henne - Brandon Marshall
Ryan Fitzpatrick - Steve Johnson (a stretch but the 2 all in all were productive)

Bulgers a good fit. I seem to remember that ex Rams QB's seem to do fairly well in Arizona. - wilsonlrob

Actually only one ex Rams QB has done well in Arizona.

Unless you're counting John Skelton drafted from the Fordham Rams but he has not done much of anything in the NFL.

Arizona needs to make Fitz Player Personnel Director, GM, and President. They then would kill two birds with one stone, save labor costs to pay him and give him total control. It's a player's world, get it while you can. That mentality has DONE wonders for the NBA. With a lockout looming and dissension among players and its' union, the NFL is heading down a slippery path.

I think Fitzgerald has every right to voice his opinion on who the next quarterback should be, he's a Pro Bowl wideout on the verge of free agency and he wants to win. The Cardinals brass has yet to show they know anything about picking quarterbacks aside from Kurt Warner who by the way was considered "washed up" when he came to the team.
I also read in this mornings Arizona Republic newspaper that it is common practice for coach Wiz to meet with his players and get their opinions on what the team needs are, so it wasn't like Fitz threw a tantrum and made any sort of demands like it is being portrayed.

Sure, Fitz would like to stay in Arizona.  However, why would you stay in Arizona with quarterbacks like Bulger or Kolb.  It doesn't make sense if your ultimate goal is winning..because neither is a proven winning quarterback, nor an MVP, nor the caliber of player that he needs to consistently get him the ball.

The only way that kind of request makes sense is if Fitz want to make sure the franchise signs an "inexpensive" quarterback to ensure that he can stay and make the kind of money he is about to demand.  He's not going to release what that number will be until the Cardinals show their hand and move on a quarterback.

Its about money.. not winning.. with this comment from Fitz.. if indeed he made this comment in the first place.  Really..  Bulger and Kolb!!!   Please, Fitz.

Yeah they are horriable with their stories they make the players look like lkie asses. Seeing ESPN they asked him for his opinion in who the QB should be he didn't demand anything and there is no mention of money, They need to learn how to give accurate stories
