Report: Fitz gave Cards a list of QBs he wants

Larry Fitzgerald is heading into the final year of his contract and he's made it clear that he wants to stay in Arizona. If they give him a lot of money. And if they get him a quarterback who will help the team win.

He's reportedly gotten even more specific, too, naming Kevin Kolb and Marc Bulger as guys he wants in Phoenix, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kolb is apparently Fitz' top choice, but the most glaring part of the report is the lack of Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton and Donovan McNabb on the list.

McNabb should be one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market, despite his age and poor 2010 performance, but the Cardinals aren't a team that's been considered likely to show any interest in him, should the Redskins end up not picking up his option.

Kolb's a nice target, but the problem is the Eagles will probably want a first-round draft pick in exchange for their talented backup signal caller. (Which would mean if the Cards give Fitzgerald everything he wants, they're going to severely hamper themselves long-term.)

Bulger's a much more realistic target, obviously, because he's simply the backup in Baltimore.

Either way, though, the Cardinals would be heavily catering to a single player's demands and still leaving themselves open to a nightmare situation if either Bulger (he is old) or Kolb (he is still somewhat unproven) didn't work out in 2011.

The problem is the journalism in this country is horrid.  You are very correct, he was asked by the Cardinals, but the headlines and story say nothing about that being the case.  They just go on and make it sound like Fitzgerald is making demands.  So if a reader just looks at the headlines and reads the "story" they would easily be covinced that Larry just another arrogent athlete who is trying to impose his will.  Pitiful journalism.

On a side note, Kolb would be a good fit and I agree with the thought that it doesn't matter how you get your QB, if you think the guy can start in this league then by all means give up your first rd. pick!

Why are people so up in arms about his request? It's obvious to everyone (except, perhaps, Ken Whisenhunt and the Cardinals front office) that no team is going to win with John Skelton and Max Hall anywhere on the field and only a team with elite players at every position could do well with DA (this is clearly not the Cardinals).

So knowing that the Cardinals need a new QB, Fitz gave his opinion on a few he'd want. And he let it be known that he is aware he could easily market his services to a team that actually was committed to winning and went about it intelligently, but would stay with the generally pathetic until recently Cardinals if they showed some interest in signing at least an average QB. Considering last year was a sign they were reverting back to decades of futility and the two glory years were exceptions and not the new rule, I can't blame him.

LOL    ---  make his birthday "a national holiday in Arizona.....     "
If it was a national holiday it would be the whole US, not just Arizona.
looks like the home-schooling didn't work too well.
p.s.  Fitzy ---  come the NE Patriots.  You'd have lots of Irish cousins in Boston!

If Philly wants a first round pick for Kolb, give it up.  You can either have a guy who has been in the NFL and while hasn't played much, has shown some things in the NFL, or you can take a stab in the draft, which is a crapshoot.  If the Cards drafted a QB and he was as good as Kolb, I think they would accept that.  Or they could just get Kolb.  QB is too important of a position to screw around with.  Just ask the 1990's NY Giants.  Dave Brown, Kent Graham, Danny Kannell................

I think Kolb does make the most sense because of age and talent but the problem is going to be the asking price of the Eagles. A first round pick + will be what they are looking for. Two other trade options I would look at are Kyle Orton and Carson Palmer. It may wind up that neither of them get moved but I think they are both legit options that should be explored. It doesn't hurt to make the phone call. The 49ers will also be a team that will be looking at all of these guys as well which will drive up the price.

Personally, I think Matt Flynn, backup for the Packers, could be a nice fit in Arizona. He's learnt a great deal behind Rodgers and he's matured a lot. Dude's ready to be a solid starter somewhere and with people like Fitz and Breaston and Doucet to throw to, he could really flourish.

He was the only bright spot on last years team offensively. Larry is a rare talent at WR so the Cardinals should definitely give him a quarterback that he wants and that way they might actually have some offensive next season. I don't think his demands were that much, Bulger would be fairly easy to get and it also gives the option of a veteran who can teach a young quarterback the ropes. I would imagine Bulger has helped out Joe Flacco and Marc also had some good season in St. Louis when they had weapons around him, and what would be a better weapon than Larry Fitzgerald.

I would like to see my Niners go after K. Orton or K. Kolb because I can see them playing good in the West Coast offense.
I hope Harbaugh does not go after McnabbYoung to expensive and not worth it.
