Report: Fitz gave Cards a list of QBs he wants

Larry Fitzgerald is heading into the final year of his contract and he's made it clear that he wants to stay in Arizona. If they give him a lot of money. And if they get him a quarterback who will help the team win.

He's reportedly gotten even more specific, too, naming Kevin Kolb and Marc Bulger as guys he wants in Phoenix, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kolb is apparently Fitz' top choice, but the most glaring part of the report is the lack of Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton and Donovan McNabb on the list.

McNabb should be one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market, despite his age and poor 2010 performance, but the Cardinals aren't a team that's been considered likely to show any interest in him, should the Redskins end up not picking up his option.

Kolb's a nice target, but the problem is the Eagles will probably want a first-round draft pick in exchange for their talented backup signal caller. (Which would mean if the Cards give Fitzgerald everything he wants, they're going to severely hamper themselves long-term.)

Bulger's a much more realistic target, obviously, because he's simply the backup in Baltimore.

Either way, though, the Cardinals would be heavily catering to a single player's demands and still leaving themselves open to a nightmare situation if either Bulger (he is old) or Kolb (he is still somewhat unproven) didn't work out in 2011.

Geez find out the facts before you start spouting off.  THE GM and the owners ASKED him for his opinion.  He's not dictating anything.

Report: Fitz gave Cards a list of QBs he wants

I'm wondering why Fitzgerald stopped at getting a QB of "His" choosing in order to re-sign with the team?  Hell, since his ego now appears to be as big as his dreadlocks here's a list of things he should also demand from the team - and the city:

1) front row seat at NFL draft, with final say on all players Cardinals wish to draft
2) 10% finders fee on all players he approves drafting which make the team
3) allow him to call offensive plays any time the team is behind
4) key to the city (if he doesn't already have it)
5) downtown parade to celebrate his birthday every year he remains with the team
6) helipad built at his house, with a private helicopter (and pilot) provided to airlift him to home games
7) private jet to fly him to away games...accompanied by QB of his choosing
8) sculpt a Larry Fitzgerald statue to be displayed outside the stadium so long as he is alive
9) rename Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Larry Fitzgerald Airport (effectively changing call letters from PHX to LFA)
10) automatically make Larry Fitzgerald's birthday a national holiday in Arizona

In return, Larry Fitzgerald will give the team, the city and the state an "I have a Dream Team" speech upon signing his new contract.

Kolb has an upswing, but his problem in Philly is the Oline is TERRIBLE and can't protect him.  I would only be happy if the Eagles trade him to the Cardinals if they get a first round pick for him.  Donavan McNabb is an option but I also think now that Brad Childress is out, so are McNabb's chances with the Vikings.  AZ and the 49ers are the top running for the Mcnabb 'sweepstakes' and SF chooses, it would reunite him with Brian Westbrook....

jesus, are you kidding me? kolb is your top pick? kolb is fuc*ing mediocre at best. bulger? can he even stay healthy for an entire game anymore? mcnabb would be okay, but he doesn't have great accuracy. call me an idiot, but wouldn't orton be a solid play here? could be had for probably a reasonable price, good enough arm, accurate, no attitude.  anyone?

Hilarious, Fitzgerald thinks Kolb over McNabb. Just look at the numbers between those two with the same players. Kolb wasn't even sharp enough to keep Vick from taking the job from him. I really think the Eagles can unload Kolb at this point, I think if Kafka can develop behind Vick the same way Kolb did behind McNabb in 2-3 seasons would the Eagles be any worse off for it ? Heck, I think AJ Feeley could come back and the Eagles wouldn't be any worse off. Jeff Garcia too. If the Eagles could swing it, get Darnell Docket or another qualty defender out of the Cardinals, even a draft pick if they want Kolb that bad. Kolb's career as starter lasted under 30 minutes. The Cardinals won't realize how mediocre Kolb is because the NFC West is a .500 division winner anyway. Fitzgerald had Warner for the last 2 good years and in that division, it was 9-7 and 10-6 for the Cardinals.  Cardinals were bad this year because they didn't get a replacement for Warner. They also lost Dansby to the Dolphins and Rolle to the Giants. Warner retires and they were still in the hunt in that division for a NFC West crown. 7-9 won that division, underachievers all of them and an upset over the Saints, doubt that ever happens in the playoffs again, much more regular season even.

Fitz is one of the best WRs in football. He wants to win. I have no problem with him voicing his opinion. Maybe he should run the team. Lord knows whoever was doing it last year had their heads so far up their behinds they must be blind by now. The Cards brass screwed up big time last year and I don't blame Fitz for letting them know he's not interested in a long-term deal with a team that isn't serious about getting back to the Super Bowl. A team that signed the three QBs they had last year (DA would be okay holding a clipboard, but not starting) is obviously not that serious...or just really stupid. The Defense is a mess, the O-line sucks, they have no QB, no running's a lot to fix in a short period of time.

Isn't Larry Fitzgerald a WR not a GM?  Where does he get off dictating to his owners who they should pickup as a QB in order for him to stay past his remaining one year contract.  And will he sign a contract that says if they pickup eithe Kolb or Bulger he will sign a long term contract for less money so they can pay one of these QB's?  Probably not, so if they give into his requests and then he leaves the following year, what is Arizona left with?  Its ridiculous that a player would think he can tell his "Bosses" how they should run their team and holds them "hostage" with threats of leaving if they don't fill his wishes in respect to players who should be signed to the team. I mean why not just demand they trade for Brady or P. Manning or else.  You might as well go balls to the wall with your demands.  Fitz is a great WR, let the people who run the team do whats right for the team not something your looking to pad your stats with.  Get real Fitz.,

Good for him. At least he's showing interest in staying and pointing out a part of what it will take to keep him. Last I checked, Arizona doesn't have another real superstar player besides him. And Fitzgerald has been loyal to the team from the time he signed on there initially, even going through one big contract extension when they were mediocre at best. They should do everything to can to do to accomodate him.

By the way, almost all of the talk radio and bloggers in Arizona have clearly stated the Cardinals have no interest in McNabb, even though he has a winter home there. They probably think he's washed up just as much as Fitzgerald does, too. That and rumor has it Minnesota wants McNabb in a heartbeat.

I'm surprised to see that Bulger is on his list because as the Rams changed over the years, Bulger's fleeting success went out the window. I'm not saying Marc was a bad QB, but he was a far cry from Warner. Maybe it's a question of knowledge of the system and similarly quick release Bulger has to Warner. Either way, I guess there's no question Bulger is an upgrade from Anderson.
