Report: Fitz gave Cards a list of QBs he wants

Larry Fitzgerald is heading into the final year of his contract and he's made it clear that he wants to stay in Arizona. If they give him a lot of money. And if they get him a quarterback who will help the team win.

He's reportedly gotten even more specific, too, naming Kevin Kolb and Marc Bulger as guys he wants in Phoenix, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kolb is apparently Fitz' top choice, but the most glaring part of the report is the lack of Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton and Donovan McNabb on the list.

McNabb should be one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market, despite his age and poor 2010 performance, but the Cardinals aren't a team that's been considered likely to show any interest in him, should the Redskins end up not picking up his option.

Kolb's a nice target, but the problem is the Eagles will probably want a first-round draft pick in exchange for their talented backup signal caller. (Which would mean if the Cards give Fitzgerald everything he wants, they're going to severely hamper themselves long-term.)

Bulger's a much more realistic target, obviously, because he's simply the backup in Baltimore.

Either way, though, the Cardinals would be heavily catering to a single player's demands and still leaving themselves open to a nightmare situation if either Bulger (he is old) or Kolb (he is still somewhat unproven) didn't work out in 2011.

California Mike...do you have any idea what you're talking about?  Unitas is dead.
Starr or Tittle would be good options though.

Fitzgerald should have his choice for any qb he wants. He should also have to pay for his salary as he likes to open his big month. If BIG MOUTH wants whoever, let him pay. The inmates are running the teams now so let them pay for their teams salaries also.

How long is it going to take people to learn that if you can get the franchise QB, everything else falls into place, no matter what the price?  A first round pick might be steep, but not if you make the right decision.  If you can get Kolb for a first and he performs, then how does that hamper them long term?  You could take a chance on a QB in the first round and wait 2-3 years for him to develop and watch Fitz walk out the door.  Or you can try to use the same draft pick, get a QB that can play now, and try to win now.  Who knows if Kolb is any good, but forking over a 1st for the oppurtunity to find out is well worth the price (besides, the Eagles will use that 1st round pick to pick up an undersized linebacker).

He wants to stay in Arizona but wants to be paid, Ok that is reasonable enough.  I do not know much about Fritz so you Cards fans will have to fill me in but he is a pretty good receiver as I recall.  I do not know of him having significant off field problems, fairly durable, please correct me if wrong as I said I do not follow the Card much and know little about Fitzerald.  I think most teams would not mind having him on their team.  He wants to win, well that a good thing, don't hate him for that.  He does not want to waste away on a team not willing to do what it takes to win, understandable. So far he is OK with me.

I think his choice of QB is interesting.  Why Kevin Kolb?  Marc Bulger is more of a mad bomber, likes to air it out, I think he would be a much better option over Kolb except for the age thing.  Fritz, I am assuming, would like to see a lot of long balls coming his way.  I see Bulger as a bridge between now and the Cards using their highest pick on a new QB.  That has to be high on their wish list.  Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton are history, 3rd stringers at best.  McNabb is old and was terrible in 2010.  It hard for me to decide who is better at this point in their careers but I lean to Bulger plus he is probably a less expensive option.

I do not understand why McNabb should be one of the top free agent QB.  At best he is a bridge  (an expensive one at that I guess) to a team bringing along a new QB.   I have no idea where McNabb will land, but Oakland keeps coming to mind.  No particular reason or logic so don't go ballistic on why it is stupid, it just seems to me a lot of players in McNabb's position end up there.

In_da_cards, Just one point hear. you said you would take another CB first round and force teams to beat the cards on the ground. WELL teams beat the cards literally ALL year long on the ground this season and i don't see the addition of a first round CB doing ANYTHING to stop this. Maybe, just maybe if they had a decent QB it would stop opposing D's from stacking 7 or 8 guys in the box and the cards could re-establish a run game and gain some TOP forcing opponents to throw the ball every once in a while...

Fitz is the only reason people go to AZ home gms, owners/management better ask Fitz who he would like spreading the pigskin around. Either way, they better pay him a buttload of money just to keep him happy for a losing squad. Fitz, demand a trade, go to a team like Houston, NE, Indy, a team that has a good qb situation...

Also Fitz isn't selfish, every player wants to win and people are forgetting he almost won the sb for the cards and he had the best postseason for a WR
