sman makes a good point. DUI laws are ridiculous. TO say it is LEGAL to drink to a point is just begging for a violation. Also, there are so many factors that play into you BAC and whether you are subject to any kind of impairment.

Regardless, repeat offenders should not be allowed to drive ever again. I mean that. 1st time should be suspension or probation and fine. After that, you do it again and no more driving. If somebody gets killed because of your DUI you go to jail as if you murdered them.

Driving with an elevated BAC is inexcusable. It is clearly criminal NEGLIGENCE and should be treated as such.

I also agree that drivers talking on cell phones need to be punished. But it's almost impossible to catch somebody doing that. Perhaps if the government could look into making cell-phones only usable with a hands-free device in the car, or be disabled while the car is in operation. Seriously, you can't wait 10 minutes to call whomever you're calling?

Also cops make a ton of overtime money for testifiying on these cases. Some nearly double their income......Win or lose....

Not sure what city you live in but all the cities I've lived in require the cops to testify off-duty. That's why it's always a good practice to challenge your driving citations ... if the cop has vacations coming up he'll just bail and you're off the hook.

If anything, they are required to show up on duty ... but in no way would they get OT for a case. If so, your municipality is dumb and you're flushing away your taxes.

@DJW your just mad because Burress went to jail for shooting himself in the leg. DWI isn't murder take his licence make him serve community service, but stop filling jails with misdemeanors. We don't even know the level of intoxication. DJW needs to get off his high horse, like you have never broken a law, speeding kills also. Should we then arrest people who drive too fast?

I heard Midol is good for when on your period ... you should REALLY take some - QUICK!!

Dont know what Redwings said, but I almost have to side with, or agree, just by all this rant you've now made.  How on earth are you arguing in favor of drunk driving in the first place??  It doesn't matter how the cops come across a thug who's breaking the law....friggin GOOD!!   The only sad part is that there's NOT strong enough laws against drunk driving!  If you're a guy doing it, you should have your nads clipped.  As for Michael Bush, what a flippin loser!  Fits perfect with the rest of the Taitors.

I'm in California where they are aggressively using "unconstitutional" D.U.I. check points. I guess our politicians and supreme court appointees are too gutless to stand up to M.A.D.D....The fact that they upheld something as blatantly unconstitutional as "Check Points" is outrageous. What next, "Home searches" for illegal drugs? They'll call them "Drug Home Check points".
WHAT??  Unconstitutional D.U.I check points? What in God's name are you talking about man???  There is no such thing.  When you are driving your car on the streets in any city or state you don't own those roads.. you are to follow the rules and if the people paid to police them want to make sure you're following those rules, then that's what you do.   Driving isn't your right.. it's a privilege moron.

I guess our politicians and supreme court appointees are too gutless to stand up to M.A.D.D.

Right. MADD !!! Damn people... can't believe they hate drunk drivers so much.  I mean, a lot of them are people that lost a loved one because of a drunk driver but they, just tell them to suck it up right??

Btw, if you're ever pulled over for a D.U.I., refuse the on-road breathelizers. They're "rigged".

Spoken like a true alcoholic... go have another beer buddy.  Between family, co workers, past friends and acquaintances I personally know about 10 people that got caught drinking and driving in the last 20 years.  Every single of them was guilty as charged and every single one of them only got caught after doing it about a hundred times.   Is there the very odd time where a mistake is made? Sure, maybe 1 in a thousand.  A few more then that get off because of unscrupulous and hotshot lawyers with connections.. but their clients are guilty...

Anyway, my brother was arrested for A D.U.I suspicion in Novermber. The blood came back .03 way, way, under the limit and the D.A had to drop all the bogus charges. The cops looked ridiculous saying he was slurring, and staggering....Screm them, it's just a scam to make money. Also cops make a ton of overtime money for testifiying on these cases. Some nearly double their income......Win or lose....

You know less then nothing.  First of all, obviously there was no scam because your brother was convicted of nothing.  For all I know he was stumbling because he was high or something.... or maybe he was tired... who knows. Either way, it is what it is...

Bottom line is talking on your cell phone, and texting while driving is MUCH, MUCH, more dangerous then having "drunk" driving anyway. Let's see if people start serving jail sentences for talking on their cell phone while driving....

I LOVE how you put MUCH AND MUCH in CAPS...  it's too funny.  Yeah, texting and driving is ridiculous... but yeah, I can see how that justifies downing a 12 pack of beer and then getting behind the wheel...

What a scam!!!!

You're an idiot.

another, Stupid freaking MORON....the NFL provides a free LIMO service to all NFL players and coaches and employees 24/7 ..365 days a year....to and from ANYWHERE...

Great post, I actually forgot about that.  You're right.... the NFL has done so for a long time now.  The league made sure to make that public after Stallworth killed somebody..... the union agreed, the NFL makes this service available to anybody...
