P. Burress (US Presswire)
On Saturday super agent Drew Rosenhaus tweeted out an update on the status of what will be his most controversial client in 2011, Plaxico Burress. Here’s the full tweet (or tweets):

“Just visited with client Plaxico Burress. He is doing great! He is running & lifting weights 5 days a week. He looks in terrific shape. He is in great spirits and is excited to be reunited with his family on June 6th. We talked at length about his future in the NFL & he can't wait to get back on the football field in 2011! He is mentally & physically strong right now and is looking forward to the future! He has set some great goals for his life on and off the field. Get ready to see him do some amazing things this year in all areas!”

Burress is set to be fully released from prison on June 6. He’ll be a free agent this summer. His backstory is familiar but forever interesting: after being the hero of the Giants' win in Super Bowl XLII, he was arrested on weapons charges after shooting himself in the leg at a New York nightclub. This, of course, makes Burress controversial, though even before the legal issues, there were major concerns about his attitude and intensity.

Character issues shouldn't be a problem for Burress this time around (you have to figure prison has humbled the man), but is a wideout in his mid-30s who has baggage and two years of rust really worth bothering with?

Plax will do wonderful things in the NFL when he returns.  Sometimes these young men need to understand that these chances they are squandering once in a lifetime chances for some people.  Let's hope that when Plax returns some other superstar player that is admired by so many will learn from his mistakes.

Maybe he can help at the back end of the Yankees' rotation. I mean, what the heck -- they've signed everyone else with two arms and two legs out there.

Burress is looking to get paid and I dont think there will be alot of money offered to him.  He will see some MIke Vick money in his first year.  Dont kid yourself and think for one second that there will be no team to pick him up for a bargain because there will always be a team in the NFL to pick up a man that has had some trouble with the law.  Burress after all did shoot himself people not someone else.  He lost everything and never killed an animal.  Burress has two things going for him one he has an excellent agent and 2 he has michael vick and after a dog killer getting a second chance im sure someone who shot themself can too.
