Vick's Oprah cancelation becomes clearer

Well, this might be the reason Michael Vick has canceled his appearance on the Oprah show, which surely means he will be struck down by lightning at some point soon.

According to USA Today, many of the families who adopted Vick’s dogs “have been ‘flooding’ the producers of Winfrey’s show with calls and emails asking the ‘voices of the victims’ families’ be heard on the episode.”

Said radio host Richard Hunter, who adopted one of Vick’s dogs and tried to interview (or ambush) him about it: "True to form, when Michael Vick feels the heat, he scrambles out of the pocket.”

If Vick was to appear on the show, it makes perfect sense that the owners of the rescued dogs would want their – and their dogs’ – stories to be told. Especially if the interview was going to be a touchy-feely piece about how Vick is now a model citizen and how he’s had to overcome SO MUCH* to regain his form as one of the top athletes in the NFL.

*That was too snarky. Vick has had to overcome missing multiple seasons in the NFL and a prison sentence. No small feat.

In fact, it’d be a bit irresponsible if the producers ignored those families.

At the same time, if I’m Vick, no good can come of appearing on a nationally-televised talk show where he’ll be confronted by a bunch of pet owners who, I imagine, are still outraged by Vick, his past actions and his current success. The discussion would be contentious and confrontational, and there’s almost no chance Vick wouldn’t look like the devil.

Though Vick’s people said he only postponed the interview and that he hopes to reschedule, there’s almost no chance he’ll ever find the time to actually sit down with Oprah.

jesus, what's wrong with people?

A dog's life in my eyes is equal to a humans. I was merely equating the idea that time does not heal ALL SCARS and crimes don' just go away. Some things he will have to face. The bottom line was he was NEVER STOOD TO ANSWER FOR KILLING THOSE DOGS. He only had to answer for funding a dog-fighting business. So don't tell me he paid for his crimes .. he didn't. That's a fact.

As for me being jealous of his stardom, again you're wrong and just being ignorant. I truly don't want to be known as a human piece of sh*t. Maybe you do, but I'd take the fame of a star for being great at what they do and being a great person. Vick is neither. I don't envy pieces of sh*t, I resent them. I loathe them. Again, it's my prerogative. Somebody who's trying to show that they have rehabilitated shouldn't be running his mouth and should try to be more humble. Humility isn't in his vocabulary.

Now that he is released, he is free to pursue the rest of his life.
well, not quite. He still isn't allowed to do certain things. And in my mind, playing football for a living - the thing that gave him the empowerment in the first place - shouldn't be one of those things that he MAY do.

@ AngryTUrtle - wow. Happened years ago. yes. get over it? really? Is that what we should do? Just ignore it? What a moronic response. I'm sure the Nazis that fled to SOuth America were just praying that the Jews would just forget about it and "let it go." You're right, I need to remember that there's a Statute of Limitations. If you just wait it out, you can get away with certain crimes. Served his time ... riiight. And now he's basking in the glow of his renewed stardom and being as egocentric as ever. Totally ignorant of the pain he's caused. I'm livid because I put myself in the shoes of those he's harmed. If you can't be empathetic then you are less human than you think. Quit being all high and mighty with your human arrogance. It's really not a pretty trait.
Leslie, so, now you are equating dogs to Jews killed in the Holocaust?  I would never say "they are just dogs", but, wow.  That's some comparison.

Sounds to me that you are more envious of his stardom than you are concerned about his crime.  "Basking in the glow"?  Well, why shouldn't he?  He was arrested, prosecuted, convicted and jailed for his crime.  He didn't get away with anything.  He got punished.  Now that he is released, he is free to pursue the rest of his life.

@ Jay, first of all, you clearly are a liar. You preface your argument by saying you were against Vick, but as soon as he became an Eagle you supported him. You even go on to say that everybody messes up. hmmm. Torturing dogs is not a mistake. That is an evil volitional act which is a characteristic of mentally disturbed individuals. The fact that he can NEVER apologize or even face those dogs is a sign of his ignorance. The fact that he paid $1M is of no significance. He had to do a lot of things he didn't want to. If I kill your wife and abuse your kids and then say "here's $5M for your kids' therapy." Would that be enough to atone for my sins? The logic behind that is flawed.

You did imply that Vick was a great guy by telling us that Vick should be acknowledged and given credit for giving money to the dogs (court-ordered, wasn't it?).

The fact that you somehow turned the whole thing on it's head and started calling out the intentions of the adopters is absurd. That's the real level of maturity, isn't it? Give a free pass to the famous rich guy, but hate on those picking up the pieces from his sh*t-storm.

AS for my last bit - childish. yes. I'd rather be childish than a sick demented F!CK who tortures animals for no good reason, and actually looks to turn a profit. You are the moron who roots for him because he wears your team's jersey. You look like an unprincipled fool.

@ AngryTUrtle - wow. Happened years ago. yes. get over it? really? Is that what we should do? Just ignore it? What a moronic response. @ NEMS - really? you don't see the difference between killing an animal for sustenance and killing for pleasure? In fact, not just killing, but torturing? Just doing things to the animal to see it suffer? You don't see the difference? Try to grow your brain. Ah, but I see your problem. You have quoted the BIBLE. And you don't even understand the meaning of that lesson.
1) The Bible has been the direct cause of more deaths than AIDS, CANCER, Modern WARs, and Nuclear weapons combined.
2) That quote was directed toward Jesus who was the only man in the room without sin. Whereupon he decided not to cast a stone, but WARNED the adulterer that if she sinned again she would not be stoned, but would be BURNED. And those who had brought her were to be burned as well unless they repented for their sins.

How that applies to me? Well, I have yet to sin. Unless you come from the school of thought that we are born with sin. Then I have sinned. Regardless, would Jesus cast a stone upon Vick? Probably not. Would he require me to not despise Vick for what he's done? Nope.

Bottom Line: do you idiots really think we could crush Vick everyday with a bunch of midgets? really? damn this Vick-storm has really hit people with the idiot stick. you guys got rodney king style beatings with it.

I own pets and of course I love them. Well i love my cat anyways.  My dog  ehhh  not really but I can somewhat understand why people love their dogs.  Anyhow  vick did the right thing here.  Share their stories?  Who give a s***?   I dont care about the dogs stories. I know them  they were forced to fight and it was awful   I get it  its over.  TO VICK: You have gotten everyone on your side that you can.  Everyone who still hates you will always hate you.  Stop trying to get more people to like you.   I like vick  Great QB  My favorite to use on madden.   Vick deserves to get eat by a buch of guys in shit stained skinny jeans?   What a tool.  He is probably one of the guys wearing the shit stained skinny jeans.  I can also name at least 20 people mor epowerful then oprah in the world and obama is not on that list.

Your ignorance is obvious and if by chance you do have a pet maybe someone should look into you owning one.
We kill animals every day. Have you ever been to a farm? Slaughter house? A fishing boat? I'm a dog owner and I love my dog but I'm sane enough to know the difference between an animal and another human being. Unfortunately, most of you animal Nazis' in PETA can't differentiate between the two and that's sad.

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone."

STFU you imbecile. Vick is a slimeball and deserves to be crushed every day by a million midgets wearing sh*t-stained skinny jeans
I could care less about Vick, but dang.  Crushed every day?  What he did was wrong, without exception.  HOWEVER, he was tried, convicted, sentenced and jailed.  Don't you think it might be time for you to, oh, I don't know, let it go?!?  The veracity of your comment, I don't understand it.  This happened years ago, and yet you still are suffering from this level of anger.  I hope you are this upset with murderers, rapists, terrorists.......
