Cam Newton's struggles in the throwing session at the Combine Sunday have already been well documented. His strategy of reading a prepared statement and refusing to acknowledge the extent of the "mistakes" he made earlier in his career while at Florida has been hotly contested.

Even more of a concern, however, is that the reigning Heisman winner is also struggling answering football questions during team interviews at the Combine. has learned that at least two teams gave Newton poor grades for his "football character" following interviewing him at the Combine. Newton, according to league sources, had a difficult time drawing up plays and how to react to different defensive schemes when asked to work on the white board.

There is no denying Newton's potential, but his success in spread option offense much simpler than anything he'll see in the NFL continues to be his greatest challenge. Not all teams are convinced he has the ability to make the adjustment to the complex defensive schemes he'll see at the pro level.

Cam Newton 'struggled' in some team interviews

A couple of years ago Cam Newton couldn't hit the side of a barn according Florida fans. One year at Auburn and he is a BCS National Championship winner, a Heisman winner, and has a big Under Armour contract. There is no better place he could have spent his junior year than Auburn.

Sneak attack by not posting my name...but I caught you MR Zacky

Russell did NOT run a Spread Offense in College. lol hahahaha.

See Above: Nothing Valid about the point in the least.

Seems its YOU with the problem Mr Zacky...NEVER was in inferred that the poster was "RACIST"   That's simply YOU creating that 'Strawman" you tried to saddle ME with..

As for the post even "RUBBING ME THE WRONG WAY"  Nope. It was FUNNY.

Inferiority complex?   You clearly have bumped your head.  Perhaps that's transference as well, sorta like the 'stawman' nonsense.

Seems I have a Right Winger on my 6 who as bought into the reverse racism nonsense and thinks every word "ABOUT RACE" means that someone has been called a RACIST. ( hmmmm sorta like what you say I did huh? )

too funny!

OH! and just FYI....not that it matters, but I'm not Black.

So he makes a valid point about two spread quarterbacks failing in the NFL (who happen to be black) and he's suddenly a racist?

Must be nice to have that straw-man argument at your disposal whenever someone says something that rubs you the wrong way and race is somehow involved. See a therapist about that inferiority complex.

Sorry, but I have a hard time respecting someone who spells "paid" with a 'y' and and 'e', and then tells others that they should've paid attention in college. And doesn't have a grasp of basic grammar, to boot.

Maybe you, sir, should have "payed" attention in junior college.

"instead of be a meat head and worry about FOOTBALL!!"

Why didn't Newton go to a college that ran a pro-style NFL offense.  Cam has abilities that are unique but he really has hurt himself and his career by attending Auburn U.  I can't think of any QB coming out of Auburn as a drop back passer to play in the NFL.  Can you?

Maybe he should become a TE!

Cam the Man went to the wrong program.  A program that was not a pro-style NFL school.  It's a long process to try to learn the pro game at this stage of his career.  He needs a team owner and coach to have patience with teaching him the NFL game.  Good Luck, Cam.

Cam Newton made the wrong choice by putting himself in a non-pro style college program.  Did Cam think that the "Run and Shoot" would be reincarnated again in the NFL?

Just maybe, he might think about changing positions from a QB to a TE or maybe learn how to play DB.  I am not trying to be a wise-ass but Cam has alot to learn of the pro game if he wants to continue to become a QB in the NFL.

Maybe Canada is an option for a few years.
