Bengals not ready to trade Palmer

We’ve noticed lately that it appears the Bengals might be cracking a bit in regards to QB Carson Palmer’s demands to be traded. There’s been talk he could land with the Cardinals or the Dolphins, and it makes sense that Cincinnati would rather get something of value for Palmer instead of letting him retire.

Trading Palmer?
According to owner Mike Brown, though, nothing has cracked at all.

Speaking with the Cincinnati Enquirer’ s Joe Reedy and Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson, Brown said, “I want him back and I will just leave it at that. I haven’t talked to any other team about him and I have no plans to trade him.”

Right, but what happens if/when Palmer retires, and you lose your nine-figure investment in him?

“I’ve seen any number of players who at one point did not want to reenlist come back and be quite happy about it,” Brown said. “It depends how it goes. As far as getting value, I don’t see any opportunity to get what I consider to be value. Having said that it doesn’t make sense to look to trade. It only makes sense to wait and hope Carson comes around.”

Bengals not ready to trade Palmer

Mike Brown's flippant "wait and see" attitude illustrates well why the Bengals have been garbage for years.
Agreed. As a bengals fan, my only "wait and see" involves waiting for Brown to retire/step down/die, and then seeing if the team gets better. I love my team, but I know what their problem is, and it starts right at the top. Between players wanting out and fellow fans boycotting the team, hopefully Mike Brown steps out of the fantasy world he's living in and at least cedes power to a GM that is competent.

Carson doesn't want to come back. You know this. Get something for him now while you can. He's not a Peyton Manning kind of once-in-a-generation QB. He is replaceable.

I feel sorry for Bengal fans.

Bengals not ready to trade Palmer

I am no Patriots fan but take a second and look at how Belichik deals with players who are not on board with what he is doing.  At the first hint of the person being a locker room drain they are gone.  Seymour....gone!  Moss....gone!  And the Patriots come out on top almost every time.  On the other hand, what do the Bengals do?  Hang on to OchoCinco, even though he has wanted out for years.....rent the drama-queen TO for a year....and now refuse to do what is smart for the team and deal the malcontent Palmer and get whatever you can to improve your own team.

The difference between the Patriots and Bengals?  Players will still want to go to the Pats because they have a a good owner and Belichik who want to win above all and invest the money that is needed to provide the players with an environment where they will want play.  Brown could care less about winning....it is all about $$$$ and nothing more.

I have been a Bengals fan all my life but this may just be the last straw...yes, I think I am done....I will not buy one more piece of NFL merchandise, attend another game, subscribe the NFL Sunday Ticket or anything else that will put a penny into Mike Brown's greedy little paws again.  Why would I??
