PETA wants Vick out of Madden cover tourney

Vick Posted by Josh Katzowitz

With the upcoming release of the next version of EA Sports’ “Madden,” there’s plenty of controversy already brewing.

First, you’ve got the 32-player bracket in which fans can vote for the cover boy that has already led to “upsets” of Bills WR Steve Johnson (by Patriots RB Danny Woodhead) and of Broncos QB Tim Tebow (by a surprising Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles, who dominated Tebow 64 percent-36 percent) in the first-round matchups.

Now, you’ve got the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) who want Eagles QB Michael Vick evicted from the tournament (you know, the whole dogfighting thing).

That, however, won’t stop EA Sports president Peter Moore from putting Vick on the cover if that is the result of the fan vote.

"We believe that Michael Vick, as the runner-up in MVP for the league and the comeback player of the year, deserved his slot," Moore told “I can tell you we've already received the letters from our good friends at PETA urging us to take him out of the bracket. I'm not here to comment on what he did. I personally believe, and this is personal commentary right now, that Michael served his time. He's had a tremendous season."

Vick also believes he deserves the honor, as he’s taken to his Twitter page to encourage fans to vote for him.

Moore also declared his company was wrong for originally allowing players who suffered concussions on the virtual field to return to the game. That’s why, in Madden ’12, that won’t be an option (my heart breaks for those who have Colts WR Austin Collie on their team).

According to the AP, Moore said “we have an obligation in our industry" to recognize that brain injuries are one of the leading issues of the day.

PETA wants Vick out of Madden cover tourney

Who cares what PETA wants... You know that some of the people in that organization will be first in line to pick up their copy of Madden when it comes out even if Vick was on the cover (of course none of them would admit it). Pretty soon PETA will want all teams with animals as logos to take them off their helmets....

PETA wants Vick out of Madden cover tourney

PETA is a radical terrorist organization to begin with, EA sports is a computer gaming company.  Read PETAs rhetoric and you'll see that they have less respect for human life than that of an animal. If I had to choose between PETA/HSUS or Michael Vick, I would choose Vick everyday of the week and twice on Sundays...The lesser of two evils you might say.

PETA should stop hating

C'mon PETA, if you want to be respected universally, you need to get with the program and acknowledge that people can learn and change. How about instead of spending all this energy in a rage of hate for a man that has asked forgiveness and accepted his punishment, you spend a little energy and time asking him to represent what a little education and love can do for the animals you seem to love more than your fellow human beings? Think about it. I'm sick of hearing you're propaganda... and now? I think I'll go eat a steak... with milk... and eggs... and baby seal popsicles for dessert... reclined in my zebra skin barca lounger, wrapped in my cheetah skin bathrobe with matching endangered tortoise shell slippers. To Mike Vick: You're welcome, PETA nation now hates me more than you, go easy on the Niner's next time you kick our butts.  p.s. -- I've suffered 9 concussions and it hasn't affected my judgement at all.

PETA wants Vick out of Madden cover tourney

Obviously the first sentence in my post was missed. Hunting.. Ok give you that but for sport?? The difference??? Besides what people think of it?? Fine line there but the point I was trying to make and should have stuck to was….. at what point does one finish paying his/her debt to society? Vick didn’t set his own sentence and served his time, lost 100 + mill and has a F’d up rep for life and speaks out on and against what he’s done to many. What more do intelligent people want? Dante Stallworth KILLED A MAN while drinking and driving. Served ZERO jail time, 1 yr suspension from the league and now plays. Was that not inhuman? Where is the uproar about that? Or was that ok because he at least hit the man while driving a Bentley. What Vick did was absolutely wrong but come on… we’re worried about Vick being on the cover of a Fn game?? How “unsmart” is that?

@GSOCHI... yes, there is a major difference between "hunting/eating meat" or especially euthanasia (mentioned in a previous post) versus torture for your own sick and demented jollies.  Do you think killing an armed intruder in your home is the same as raping a child and then murdering them?!?!?  They both die but the basis as to why and how it takes place is usually something we can control. Death is not something we can ignore but offering dignity in that moment to any living thing is the least we all can do.

I think the biggest issue in this country today is that people have no self respect.  That malady leads to their basis of living without a conscience and therefore being hopelessly unaccountable and acting incredibly selfish. "Give me what's mine" and the need for "instant gratification" are the mindsets of a child or the highly ignorant.  An educated adult should be embarrassed to promote those mantras.

PETA wants Vick out of Madden cover tourney

Alright, now you listen up. Dynasty of Pats:

Think about what you're saying, before you say it.
You said want to kill Vick. You want his head bashed in. You've got a bottle of champaigne for the day he dies.

Think about it: who or what do you sound like?
You sound like a cold-blooded killer, yourself!
"Jumping at the chance to pull the trigger"? Who the hell are you to pass judgement on someone you don't even know? You have no right to devote yourself to the demise (or even death as far as you go) of someone? IT'S ABOUT BEING HATEFUL. DON'T LIE TO YOURSELF. WHAT YOU SAID IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF HATE. And worse, you have not an ounce of forgiveness for wrongdoers (people in general). What made you so righteous amongst others? If you lived by your very own twisted judgements, you could be worse than Michael Vick himself, just for your obsessive bloodlust.

And I know you're not as violent as your post would have us believe. You just don't think before you say, and you don't have much capacity for it altogether, anyway.

But if you're into revenge as much as you say; one word: Karma. You will get yours. And you won't be ready for it.

And as for PETA, get off of him. He doesn't need you; you don't need you; ready to pounce on him for the rest of his life. You don't get a positive when you add two negatives. Keep it in perspective, PETA's got a twisted regime of revenge. That's all they want: revenge. There's nothing for them to gain. Vick needs a restraining order against the PETA. We're talking about a stupid video game.

It's ludicrous. Are they going to untie his shoe every time he ties it? Get real.
