A Brandon Marshall update

Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall is finally honing his craft during an offseason.

“For the past three years I haven’t had a chance to get better in the offseason,” Marshall said Thursday on WQAM-560 AM, via Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post. “I’ve had two hip surgeries back-to-back, an arm surgery before that, that took away my whole offseason. I’ve just been focusing on getting healthy, and that conditioningB. Marshall (US Presswire), that burst hasn’t been there, and I’ve just been going off my natural ability.”

That isn’t the case this year. The 27-year-old wideout began working out with his personal trainer a month after Miami’s season ended. (If you want to partake in the same workouts Marshall is doing, you can visit his website and download them…for a small fee.)

Marshall makes the athlete’s age-old claim that he’s in the best shape of his career.

“Where I’m at today, it doesn’t even compare to where I was during any time during the season last year or the season before that,” he said. “This two months we’ve been working, I’m back to that guy that was training to the Combine. My body fat is down to like 7 percent – when I was in college I was at 6 percent. My hips are feeling great, knees are feeling great. Just, man, it’s beautiful.”

Marshall also spoke to ScoresReport.com about his relationship with quarterback Chad Henne. The brash receiver grew frustrated with the third-year quarterback at times last season.

“It was a tough transition (from Denver to Miami), but Chad is a guy that is capable of making some things happen and he’s still a young guy,” Marshall said. “I’m sure he’s going to take what happened last year, learn from it and grow. I’m going to do the same and I’m going to try and not only get our offense, but our whole team on the same page and moving in the right direction. I’m excited about the opportunity to work together this offseason and get things corrected.”

Marshall missed two games in ’10 and failed saw his streak of consecutive 100-catch seasons end at three. The Dolphins finished a disappointing 7-9.

A Brandon Marshall update

Henne's gonna be a huge letdown.  I can see it coming a mile away.  They need a better rushing attack and a defense that can contain the pass when needed.  If they can sweep the Jets and split with New England every year, they'll be in the playoff mix come December.  They can't go overboard with the pass.  This is who they are.  Just run it!  :)
The Pass defense will take care of itself if they can get a1 more edge rusher to go with that unkown freak they found in the Great White North, coupled with one of the top 5 defensive Coordinators in the league and a great promising pair of CB's.

For Henne to be a "Huge" letdown, he would first have to be a surprising emerging star....he's not that yet. He's not Dan Marino, but I wouldnt call him out as being Troy Smith at this stage either.

A Brandon Marshall update

Kid could be a top 5 WR, IF he matures a little (2 Personal fouls this last year that were nothing more than childish BS, and calling out his QB). He definately has the tools.
The fact he is healthy and working to be better is a huge PLUS for the dolphins...at least he's not busy buying millions of dollars worth of jewelry he can't afford or getting arrested for wearing baggy pants to the mall.

A Brandon Marshall update

marshall is a great WR. its good to hear him and henne are working it out. weather you like it or not i think its gonna be henne under center next season. we need to get a solid WR opposite of BM. love to see sims-walker come to town. not sold on hartline. hes a backup or return man. i believe the dolphins are gonna try to be a run heavy first team, but still gonna have to be able to throw the ball effectively. i believe we  have alot of great pieces already in place to contend and i think the first step at producing a allstar offense, is building a allstar 0-LINE. draft a probowl o-line and youll see how efficiently the offense runs.  always build from the inside out.   IMO.
