L. Johnson
Former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson – who, at 32, is essentially out of football after uneventful stints with the Bengals and Redskins – has settled his dispute with Ashley Stewart. Stewart is the name behind the face that Johnson allegedly spat his drink into back in 2008 at a Kansas City nightclub.

Johnson was arrested and charged with non-aggravated assault for the incident. He had been facing trial in Kansas City (a few weeks ago his lawyers argued that there was no way the maligned ex-Chief could get an unbiased jury in that town) but, according to Deadspin, Johnson has instead made an offer of judgment to Stewart that pays her $100,000. Stewart has accepted, and thus, the whole mess has disappeared.

The judge in his criminal trial wouldn't, but jury of his peers would/could likely have awarded that and more. He bought his way out of a criminal trial by settling the eventual civil trial.

AIRFORCEONE,
You're missing the point. His actions constituted assault. What if he had aids? How would you have reacted if he spit in your face? More than likely it would've ended in a fight?!  This guy is a dog to spit another persons face let alone a women. Subjecting him to disciplinary action only promotes this type of action from these thug types.

100 grand for getting spat on! Unreal! He should have gotten some type of discipline for this action but 100 grand is crazy. Just because he is rich is no reason to extort the situation.

It's known as bribery.  Who knows what other incidents would have come outin the open in this trial.

Larry Johnson settles assault case out of court

You've heard the one about the dumb lady in New Mexico that put sugar and cream in her McDonald's coffee and failed to secure the lid, drove away and spilled it on herself and got about $990,000 before legal fees right?

Sure she was burned, and quite badly...but she indeed burned herself...and won.

100,000 for getting a drink spat in your face? Why wouldn't he have just gone to court? Would a judge really ordered him to pay that much  if found guilty?
