Kolb to Arizona a 'slam dunk' after lockout?

The lockout is probably the greatest thing ever to happen to Kevin Kolb. With each passing day, his value seems to grow more and more.

But, he's been specifically attached to one team in recent days: the Arizona Cardinals. In fact, some are calling Kolb to the Cards a "slam dunk."

"Arizona ... a slam dunk as much as you can have a slam dunk," ESPN's Sal Paolantonio told Peter King (on Sirius Radio, I believe, though I cannot confirm).

There was actually some chatter that a Kolb-Cards deal was already done, with the principle parts being Kolb for Patrick Peterson (aka "2011 first-rounder") and a 2012 second-rounder.

Kevin Kolb: So Hot Right Now
That rumor was probably based on Roger Goodell's recent statements that teams could trade during the brief period in between lockouts. However, Andy Reid shot the rumor out of the sky before it really every took its metaphorical wings and started flapping too high.

Still, even if there isn't a deal now, there's almost certainly going to be one before 2011 starts. There are too many teams that have a need at quarterback -- yes, still! -- and too many good fits for Kolb for the Eagles to wait and try to utilize him as a backup.

And yes, for those wondering, yes, every story about the NFL eventually ends up in some sort of discussion about Kolb's value to other teams.

Baze, For a QB that has had 19 games played in and 7 starts, Kolbs stats prove he is a good QB. Look over the stats below and you will see what every NFL team sees in his potential.

That is not saying he WILL be a great QB but he does have the skill level to be there. It matters none on any player, you never know what they can do untill they are put in the spot and play actual continuous games. Consider what Houston gave up for Schabb and the Cards would be getting a steal if he plays out. Every player is a gamble, veteran or rookie, you never know what they can do in the system that is there, plenty of great players on one team have fizzled on a new team, and plenty of so so players have thrived by being in a new system. I have allways said most players are not adaptable, they must play in the system they are used to to be great. Joe Montana was great in the west coast offense, but in a pro style offense he would never have been as effective, there is a very limited verticle pasing game in the west coast, the pro style is verticle with very limited short out patterns and Joe thrived because of the short outs. A Daryle Lamonoca would have never made it in the west coast offense. You build a team around the strengths of the players you have, not force players to conform to the strengths of your offense or defense.

Be smart Cards...Keep Peterson, as he's the BEST player in this years draft! Give up your 1st round pick next year if that's what it will take to get Kolb. You could have the best secondary in the league! Dont let him get away!

Shaky as hell? The kid has only started a handful of games. He might not be Peyton or Brady, but he'll have a above avergae career when it's all over.

I realize the Cards need a QB but this is a risky move IMO giving up a talent like Peterson and a 2nd rounder.  If this deal goes down Philly and their fans will be laughing all the way to the bank!

in no way is kolb worth a #5 overall pick AND a second round pick, maybe if they could have swapped 1st rounders in aprils draft, then added a second rounder, basically meaning the eagles get #5 and a second rounder, cards get #23 and kolb, but if the cards were serious about giving #5 and a second rounder, they are ready to seriously overpay, although considering their QB situation, i dont guess i can really blame them

I don't know, can Patrick Peterson play QB when Vick goes down from taking 20-30 hits every week?  I personally wouldn't mind the Eagles trading away their QB insurance.

Patrick Peterson AND a second rounder for a QB that looked shaky as hell at times, even tho he had some of the best WR on the field?  No wonder why Arizona is such a terrible franchise.
