Eagles 'first in line' for Burress' services?

Plaxico Burress will be released from prison on June 6, one year, eight months and 14 days after he was sent to jail for shooting himself in the leg. And when he returns, it sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles will get the first look at Burress.

We've already been debating on what -- if any -- NFL roster Plax could find himself on come the start of 2011, but word on the street is that Andy Reid and Co., who already took a gamble on a former inmate by the name of Michael Vick, will have a leg up on getting Burris.

That's per Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, who's hearing that the Eagles are "first in line" for Burress' services whenever teams can talk to the former Giant.

Myers also notes that Burress will likely head to Florida once he's released, hoping to show off his abilities to a number of teams; the Steelers, Chargers, Falcons and Ravens are also considered to be franchises that might take a shot at Burress' potential redemption.

"He certainly paid for his crime," one personnel director told Myers. "He paid very strong."

The Eagles are the most logical team for Burress to join, primarily because they've got experience with a former inmate in Vick.

Additionally, with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin on the roster, there wouldn't be any serious pressure on Burress to step in and perform at a high level immediately.

The transition from prison and back onto a football roster would be substantially easier for Burress, and his prior transgressions are nothing compared to Vick's; if Philly can manage to deal with any public relations nightmare that he brought along, adding Burress would be a piece of cake.

HAHAHA.  Good job Eagles!!  Your training camp will forever be known as Camp Con.   You have officially replaced the Raiders as the biggest bunch of losers in the NFL.  At least the Raiders have realized having convicts on you team doesn't work.  Heck, they even cut all those losers.  Now you go out of your way and sign them up.  I hear Pacman Jones needs a job.  I'll bet Jamarcus will even give you a shot.  I'm sure you could find a few more guys in jail that could help your team out.

If this trend keeps, they`ll have to rename the team to the Philadelphia Jailbirds.

Eagles 'first in line' for Burress' services?

I'd love for my Eagles to sign him.  DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin on the outside -Burress slot - or Maclin Slot.  Those scenarios work for me.  Nobody in Philly is expecting Burress to be the brightest bulb in the shed.  We just think he can pull down TDs.  We can spell him with low-rent Riley Cooper (whom I like !).  Jason Avant looks like the "odd-man" out.  That's OK.  I LOVE Avant.  I want him on the Eagles.  But if we can get someone for him????  Let's GO!  I'd take a 4th......

Man that would be a very lethal WR corps if Plax were to join the Eagles! You'll have Desean Jackson,"J.Mac",Jason Avant, and Riley Cooper. Them plus McCoy and Vick in the backfield will have the Eagles looked at as one of the most high-powered offense in the NFL! If not the Eagles out of the teams mentioned in the article above I would have to say that the next best suitor would be is the Chargers.....Rivers need more weapons to go with Gates and Jackson.Cool
