Rush Limbaugh will probably never stop getting involved in various NFL conversations. So, take his interest in the Minnesota Vikings with a grain of salt.

Actually, a better reason to take his interest in the Vikes with a block of sodium is exactly what Mike Freeman said this morning: the NFL won't ever let Limbaugh own a team.

But that won't stop him from not saying he's not interested when former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty comes on his show and just happens to flip the interview script to ask Rush about owning a football team.
Limbaugh: I know you're not in the statehouse any longer, but there's an issue roiling the state right now and that's the Vikings and their new stadium and how much of it should be publicly financed. The usual threats are being made: If the public doesn't chip in and build a new stadium the Vikings are gone. They'll move to L.A. or someplace.
Pawlenty: The rumor is you're gonna buy 'em and move 'em. Is that true?
Limbaugh: (laughing) Well, uh, this interview is about you. (laughing)
HA. HA. HA. Sigh.

You may recall that Rush has made a run at minority ownership in a football team before -- he was shut down by plenty of people in a 2009 attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams.
Vikes Offseason

And he's made some, um, charged comments about Donovan McNabb that don't exactly endear him to, well, anyone.

And he hosts a radio show where he would absolutely use his ownership to talk about football situations and draw attention to himself.

And ... Well, you get it. There's a pile of reasons why the very tight-knit group of current NFL owners wouldn't let Limbaugh into their inner circle.

That doesn't mean they can't stop him from not denying rumors about his interest in trying to get there.

If they allow this felony drug addict to own an NFL team, then I suggest that the players refuse to step on to any field with which he is associated, as a group. The blowhard hypocrite belongs in a prison cell.

Limbaugh interested in owning Vikings?

I SAY GO RUSH...IF HE WANTS TO OWN AN NFL TEAM, THEN ALL THE POWER TO HIM...YOU SEE WHAT EVERYONE HAS FORGOTTEN IS WE ARE ALL STILL AMERICANS (FOR NOW)...REMEMBER THE "AMERICAN DREAM" EVERYONE HAS AN OPPOTUNITY IN THIS COUNTRY TO DO WITH THEIR LIVES WHAT THEY SEE FIT...THE RIGHT TO TO LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS...SO IF RUSH WANTS TO OWN A TEAM, NOBODY SHOULD STAND IN THE WAY...IMAGINE IF YOU WANTED TO START YOUR OWN BUISNESS AND BECAUSE A GROUP OF PEOPLE DONT LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY THEY NEVER LET YOU DO IT...SOUNDS ALOT LIKE A FORM OF DISCRIMINATION TO ME....I LOVE WHAT RUSH DOES FOR THIS COUNTRY EVEN IF ITS FOR "ENTERTAINMENT" HE HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD 99.6% OF THE TIME....SO IF RUSH WANTS A TEAM I WILL BE HIS BIGGEST SUPPORTER.......GO PANTHERS

Wait, some people think giving this man a chance to own a team would be a good thing?  That it wouldn't be fair to exclude him from ownership?  First off, since when does Rush ever play fair?  If memory serves, "fair" to his side of the aisle is "everyone for themselves".  Which is only "fair" to the people who have means to support themselves.  So "fairness" in a conversation about Rush Limbaugh is just asinine.  Second, didn't we already go through this one time?  The players were ready to walk out and not play for the Rams if he bought a stake.  What makes him think that Vikings players would not do the same?  News flash, Limbaugh:  Minorities don't like you, not even a little bit, Rush.  You have alienated them, pretty badly.  They will never, ever in a million years forgive you for all the ignorant, racist behavior, statements, and thoughts you have articulated over your lifetime.  Surely he is taking painkillers again, if he thinks that his past doesn't affect his present.  And leads to the last point:  Rush's big, fat, opinionated, non-thinking-before-it-pukes-out-mo

ronic-racist-statements mouth.  Were I another owner that wanted to keep negative controversy from coming into my cash cow of a leauge, there is no way in any hell, heaven, or part of New Jersey that I would let him be able to say he was part of my little enterprise.  But, the dude has made a business of keeping his name in the headlines.  So he has to rattle a few cages now and again to keep his sponsors writing checks.  If you igonred him, he would go away.  Wait, no he wouldn't, never mind.

Limbaugh interested in owning Vikings?

He's not just buying a team, he's becoming a business partner with the other owners.  How would you like it if you owned part of a company and they allowed a loud-mothed loose canon to become your partner.  Why take the risk when there are other billionaires that could fit the bill?

Okay, for all you tree huggin little whiners saying "Rush should get a chance this" and "Rush should be able to buy that"...  the NFL and the NFL owners group do NOT play by any normal rules.  They are a monopoly in a country that outlawed monopolies long ago.  They have a private membership of owners that is very similar to a country club.  You have to know someone and have to fit in to get a chance in this very exclusive club.

Sorry, just stating the obvious truth.  The NFL owners can do whatever they want, and if you disagree and try to stop them, they will sue you into oblivion.  Besides, let's take this for what it is.  T-Pawl stroked the giant ego of Rush and Rush leaned into it like a lonely cat.  Besides, the Wilfs have no intention of selling this team any time soon.  They are committed to getting a stadium and turning the Vikings brand into a multibillion dollar label.
