Tom Martinez, the QB coach guru who’s mentored Tom Brady during every offseason and who was a hugely successful California community college coach, announced on Facebook (via the San Jose Mercury News) that doctors have told him he has less than a month to live.

“My (medical test) numbers say I’m basically gone,” Martinez told the newspaper. “My blood pressure is too low for me to continue with dialysis, and without dialysis, poisons build up in my body. Doctors say without dialysis I have a week to go. We're looking into transplants. I would need both heart and kidney transplants done simultaneously.”

BradyMartinez has suffered from the complications of diabetes for many years, but he still kept active – last week he actually was tutoring Brady.

"Other than maybe (Brady’s) parents, people don't know what I do," Martinez said to ESPN.com’s Tim Graham last July. “But he knows."

Martinez had been working with Brady since 1992, when Brady’s father sought out Martinez’s advice for his 15-year-old son.

"What I feel good about is when guys trust me enough to do it, and it actually works," Martinez said. "There's a special relationship that's kind of unsaid between them and me.

"Guys don't say a lot to each other. It's just a masculine thing. On the other hand, you know what you did for them, and they know what you did for them. There's a respect."

Tom Martinez, Brady's mentor, has weeks to live

I just heard that Tom Martinez’ daughter is giving updated information through Tom’s profile on MatchingDonors.com.  To get the information go to ,  then at the top right press on “Search our patient profiles” , then scroll down to “” She said
she’ll be updating it every day.

I have seen a lot of senseless, cruel, unappropiate, trashy subjects from trashy people no doubt but this takes the cake people !!!!  I'm ashamed at those of you and you know who you are to write these kind of comments when a human being is fighting his life as we speak and you have absolutely no morals, no compassion,  no respect for THAT??  You make sick to my stomach and may God lay his wrath on you !!!

SHAME ON YOU

When something like this happens it really puts another spin on life. Not that
it means much but I offer my condolences to a man who has touched the lives
of so many people in such a positive way.

SHAME ON YOU

As a New Orleans native and a Saints fan since their first year in 1967 we have
had our share of failure and ineptitude. It became easy to handle the written and
verbal abuse heaped upon our team. Was it much easier to enjoy and let the tears
flow when a CLASSY individual held his son as the confetti rained upon our Super
Bowl 44 Champions.

It also became easier over the years to dislike   (and hate??)  ours for the most absurd
of reasons. Bill Bellicheck and the Patriots easily became the most disliked team in the
league. YES Bellicheck cheated and was caught.  He should have been fired.  And Yes
Tom Brady plays for this team. And YES this  gentleman has been an aide to Brady's success.
BUT that is where the relevance ends,

SHAME ON YOU

How any of these replies can be used to speak negatively of Tom Martinez is beyond belief.
Instead we should be paying tribute to someone who behind the scenes has impacted
the greatest sport in the world.

SHAME ON YOU

People of this country should stop once in a while and reflect their thoughts
in a more positive direction. We need to learn how to thank rather than criticize what we
are blessed to have. As a 22 year member of the U.S.Navy I will never forget a cab ride in
London. Younger members of our party found only the time to criticize everything we
have. Our taxi driver interrupted, apologized for his remarks and spoke of the "impression"
so much of the world has of Americans. He used words such as selfish, greedy and condescending.
He went on to say that Americans have NO IDEA of how good they have it.

SHAME ON YOU

And yes, as a New Orleans native, I survived Katrina along with my immediate family. My brother
lost everything as well as one of my sons. My son was rewarded by being deployed to Iraq less than
30 days after the storm. It was quite interesting as well as upsetting to hear the comments made
throughout our country even by elected officials.

SHAME ON YOU

In closing I think sports should always be kept as intended - entertainment.  Our true feelings are
saved for the families of the ill, the suffering and deceased.

My prayers go out to Tom Martinez and his family, including Tom Brady.

What morons talk about Spygate when a man who had nothing to do with it lies near death?

What if this, instead, were someone close to any or all of you who are spouting off with mean-spirited rubbish? Would you then be maundering on about Bill Belichick?

Belichick did what he did, and he'll have to live with it, but that judgment isn't mine to make and has nothing to do with this man's last days.
