David Tyree is not in favor of same-sex marriage

A few days ago we brought you the news of former Giants LB Michael Strahan’s endorsement of marriage equality for everyone.

So, with the New York state legislature teetering on the brink of passing a law that allows the legalization of same-sex marriage, former Giants hero David Tyree has weighed in on the matter.

And though there have been some high-profile athletes who have come out in favor of the law – Strahan is one and NHLer Sean Avery is another – Tyree takes the opposite approach (and the same attitude that the most commenters took on the original Strahan post).

Namely, Tyree says anarchy will rule if same-sex couples continue to marry.

"This will be the beginning of our country sliding toward, it's a strong word, but anarchy,” Tyree told the anti-gay group, the National Organization for Marriage, via the New York Post. "How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all the sudden because a minority, an influential minority, has a push or agenda ... and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country.”

It’s interesting, though. In his interview, Tyree  talks about how his father wasn’t in the home when he was growing up (he says he was impacted severely by that). But a fair question to follow that would be: Well, what if he was raised by two mothers in a committed relationship instead of just one mother? Or two fathers? Would that have been so much worse than growing up in a single-parent home?

You can check out the video below to see the full interview.

Everyone is all about equal rights.  That's fine.  I don't believe I'm better than anyone else.  I have gay friends and I believe that we should all have equal rights as humans.  I am 100% NOT homophobic.  But equal rights doesn't mean same titles.  Let's say that the foundation of the world began with men or women being attracted and wanting to have sex with the same gender.  How quickly would we have died off?  If you want to leave religion out of it, fine.  Do that.  But if that's the way we relied on to continue to have offspring, based on natural selection, we would have died off in the first generation of man and woman!  So just thinking evolution-wise, it's considered "not natural."

Can a man and a man pro-create?  No.  Not valid.

No, its not odd.  Slavery was practiced for thousands of  years.  At one time, when a woman married, she became her husbands property.  That was also practiced for hundreds of years.  It used to be the only ones allowed to attend the theatre, go to a fancy resturant were the wealthy, whether you had the money to attend or not.  Things change, not always for the better, not always for the worst.  But to stagnant in the name of "tradition" equals only one thing ... ignorance.

You're right Weezer, they are going to cohabitate whether or not it's a law or not.  But to consider it a marriage goes against the most fundamental belief of what it is.  Due to liberal groups, the definition of marriage has been changed.  To change something that hasn't been changed for thousands of years is a bit odd, don't you think?

These people are going to cohabitate whether a law is passed calling it marriage or not.  And thats what this is, its not religous, its man-made laws labeling it a marriage.  If all the bible thumpers want to call it something else, go ahead, most of them call themselves christians though they fail on a daily basis to BE christians.  This has nothing to do with natural or spiritual laws, its about people who pay taxes wanting all the benifits that heterosexuals who are married and pay taxes get.

"Not natural"

David took the heat on CNN this morning with humility, just the way Christ would have.  I cannot agree with him more.  The sanctity of marriage is not being respected by modern views.  It really is "not natural" for a man to be with a man.  If there isn't a chance of pro-creation, then it isn't a natural union.  The foundation of society is at risk of being tampered with, and I do agree with David that this will open more doors for groups like polygamists to believe that they too have rights to have multiple wives.  Welcome to the downfall of society.

Great Job

David I agree who does not undersatnd what is un-natural about a man-man or woman-woman coming together in marriage. This violates natural laws as well as Spiritual Laws and I stand with you in the fear of the Lord.

Why is that when someone stands against Gay marriage and for the bible, they are considered homophobic and scared of gay people and what it measn.. and are pointed to as bible thumpers or holy rollers..  The bible teaches marriage to be between man and woman.  not man and man.. or woman and woman.  David Tyree believes this to be, as do I btw.  I'm not scared of gay people, I don't believe they should be married.  I have gay friends and they know my opinion on the matter.. to me it is wrong, but I don't hate them for it.  I pray that maybe they will see the bible teaches it to be wrong and accept Christ as their personal saviour..
