Raheem Brock, who played for the Seahawks last season but will be a free agent once the lockout ends, was arrested Thursday night after he ran out on a $27 restaurant tab, Philadelphia Magazine reports.

According to MyFoxPhilly.com, the former Temple player allegedly walked out on a bill at the South Street club, Copacabana, before police questioned him nearby. A source told MyFoxPhilly.com that "there [was] a minor struggle and police put Brock under arrest."

PFT.com says Brock was charged with theft and resisting arrest and was released Friday morning without bail.

We've written previously that the lockout isn't strictly a billionaires-vs.-millionaires battle over money. Like most of us, many players rely on their weekly paychecks. They aren't all wealthy enough to take eight months off work with no financial worries. That was the case with Dolphins rookie fullback Charles Clay. Apparently, Brock could use some walking-around money, too.

Too bad he didn't call Roger Goodell for a loan before allegedly dining and dashing.

Meanwhile, Ray Lewis nods knowingly.

First of all, if you waste millions or even hundreds of thousands of dollars wihtout planning whatsoever for financial stability, I have no sympathy for you. Secondly, if you find yourself broke why in the H*LL would you be going out to eat? I mean, if you already realize you don't have any money, what sense does it make to go out and spend money at a restaurant? Do these players even know what money is for?

I really feel like these guys have NO GRASP on the fact that they eventually will not be getting their monster paychecks every week...screw trying to get more money in the CBA, they'll just spend it. Instead they should just put a personal financial agent in every players contract, they'd lose a couple thousand paying him to help them out, but in the long run they'd save those millions they are asking for.

Jamlando,

I couldn't have said it better myself.
I'm pretty sure I could support my family for several years on that one contract.

I wonder if the player voiced his displeasure with the drinks/service and refused to pay or if he pulled the old dine and dash meal?

I hate that the police department will probably spend thousands of taxpayers' dollars as this arrest moves though the legal system.  All for a lousy $27.

Dear Players,

Stop buying 27 cars, 8 houses, 4 boats and $500,000 worth of jewelry and you won't have financial trouble during a strike.

"NFL players do not get weekly paychecks.  I would think a sports writer for CBS would know this."

You haven't been around very long, it seems.

Hey - if college players can trade autographs for big-ticket items, why can't an actual pro trade an autograph for a meal?

If these morons can't make $300k spread out for a year+.....then they deserve every bit the problems with lockouts.
