Big Ben backs Plax return to Steelers

On Tuesday, my colleague Ryan Wilson wondered whether or not Plaxico Burress could end up back with his original team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. As Ryan noted, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical about the possibility.

Apparently not one of them, though: Ben Roethlisberger's support. That's because Ben apparently is down with bringing Plax back to Pittsburgh.

"I've talked to Plax a number of times in the last couple of weeks," Roethlisberger said, per Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I told him, 'Hey, if you came back here that would be awesome, but I'm just happy to see you playing again' because he's a good guy."

As Wilson pointed out, there are a number of problems with bringing Burress back to Pittsburgh. Namely, are there even enough footballs to go around in order to find out if Plaxico's still got it after 20 months in the hole?

Right now, the Steelers are staring at a wide receiver corps that features Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown. (Presumably, Antwaan Randle El would be the casualty of a Burress signing.)

But maybe -- as we've noted in previous discussions tying Plax to Philly -- that's the best possible situation for the former first-rounder. After all, if he can step in as a big end-zone target, he'll only help to diversify an already stout group of wideouts.

And as far as public relations go, well, it's not as if dealing with off-field issues would be something new for the 2011 Steelers either.

With the hours you post, as a side note, you need to either let a younger kid throw out the papers on your route or ask yourself if the Mill is worth it.

She is 16, and I starred on LOST.

Please seek all the stereotypical wahs, you forgot the basement and granny, but I forgive you.

You do know Weiner is a NYer, so please send your childish antics to a Jets or Giants fan.

How about those chances? Nil, it means nothing until the idiotic lock out ends.

You can do better than this, you are 5th grade material and its stuck on pathetic, for a person to use the ID you have chosen, you are light years away-use that for a Star Wars quip....its so funny when you dig in.

Sitting in the hole will make a guy mature.  Look at vick,  it looks like it's what he needed to realize he was in the NFL and living the dream.  Maybe Plax will not take his talents and opportunities for granted this time either. I say give him a chance and see what he's got,  it about all you can do.  I agree with an earlier post,  he's didn't rape,  he didn't steal,  he didn't get caught with 2lbs of cocain...he just simply shot himself in the leg.  Lot's of people carry guns,  he just did a dumb thing and got caught.  Where the right team is for him we'll soon see.  Will it pan out, only time will tell.  Big recievers are an asset.  the packers would crap if herman Moore would come back, he burned the pack sooo many times back in the day.

Big Ben backs Plax return to Steelers

There was a reason the Steelers let him go the first time...LAZY, the man barely practiced during the season, but declared himself fine on game days; played like Randy Moss during the game...giving significantly less than 100% and would flat out dog it if the ball was not going to him. He simply did not play with the intensity the Steelers expect from their guys. He was NO different in NY...shooting himself does not make him a bad guy, just stupid.

After laying around in prison for the past 2 NFL seasons, what make anyone think he has changed his ways...whats the old adage...a leopard cant change his spots!  The Steelers let him go because of his poor work ethic, there has been nothing Plax has done since he left the Burgh to change that perception.
