Big Ben's foot is fine, still might need surgery

RoethlisbergerPosted by Josh Katzowitz

For Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, the lockout hasn’t been a terrible occurrence. For one, he’s had the time to finalize his plans to get married in late July (where apparently -- and strangely -- it’s drawing comparisons to the royal wedding). And for two -- and for most likely the reason you would care about -- is because it’s allowed his broken right foot to heal.

“It's doing really good,” Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Friday. “It's healed up. Obviously, it helps when I'm not cutting and planting and doing all of these different activities. It's really come a long way. I haven't had too many problems with it recently."

He had plenty of problems with it last year, first breaking it and then aggravating it later in the season against the Bills in late November. In fact, the pain got so bad that there were times during practices and games when Roethlisberger wasn’t sure he could even walk.

Now he feels better, though Roethlisberger said he ultimately might need surgery on the foot (an option he actually considered after last season).

"I could have had surgery, but according to the doctors it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was. It was better off trying not to do anything," Roethlisberger said. "It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear. If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."

I agree 100 percent with Moneybags on this one!  I'm not disgusting, perverted, slanted, mean-spirited or innacurate, but those are just the facts.  Ben raped two women...that's not okay.  He shouldn't be in the league.  Also Ben is not that talented...I would take Josh Freeman over Big Ben. He is (in my opinion) the 15th best QB in the league.  Also isn't it "mean-spirited" to accuse someone of being perverted, slanted, and disgusting?

You are a pompous windbag who has probably never seen one iota of the pressure Manning & Brady see every day.  It's very easy to criticize, quite another thing to actually do something worthy of note. Football is a team game and one player, no matter how great, cannot win it all.  If one player could do it alone, Dan Marino would have had a dozen rings asshole.

If the surgery is such a "mess", why would he risk waiting till the season gets closer? the article doesn't say anything about a timeline for recovery so maybe its really brief, but even so, if my QB had a possible surgery requiring injury, whether or not he feels fine now, I'd prefer he get it now so he isn't screwed later on in the season. I guess i don't know the situation perfectly so maybe its completely unnecessary, but if its enough of an issue to think about, id rather get it done sooner than later...specially since he wouldn't be missing a whole lot now.

These guys win games on their own and dont all have the luxury of a top 3 defense each year.  If Ben was on a team like Indy or San Diego...teams with average defenses...he wouldn't win anything.

Peyton Manning has 1 lone ring - take a look at the stats. The Colts Defense gave up fewer points during the 2006 run than the 2005 or 2008 Steelers - The Colts offense ran for more yardage and TD's than the Steelers Offense in 2005 or 2008.

So Peyton Manning has 1 Superbowl ring - and it came in the only year his Running game and Defense outplayed the Steelers Running Game and Defense?????

And exactly how many rings does Tom Brady have since his Patriots went from a top 5 defense with Bruschi, Seymour, Harrison, Vrabel, etc? Those guys and Vinateiri's golden toe moved on down the line and all the sudden Tommy Brady can't win a playoff game, let alone a ring????

And Drew Breese, well yeah his defense was middle of the road, but he had the opportunity to play against the greatest choke artist of this generation in Peyton Manning and voila a ring.

One other thing Moneybags .... other bloggers here are accusing you of being an axxhole.  Include me in that accusation of YOU being an axxhole.  That's a trend.  So, you must be an axxhole.  Nothing inaccurate about that.
