Big Ben's foot is fine, still might need surgery

RoethlisbergerPosted by Josh Katzowitz

For Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, the lockout hasn’t been a terrible occurrence. For one, he’s had the time to finalize his plans to get married in late July (where apparently -- and strangely -- it’s drawing comparisons to the royal wedding). And for two -- and for most likely the reason you would care about -- is because it’s allowed his broken right foot to heal.

“It's doing really good,” Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Friday. “It's healed up. Obviously, it helps when I'm not cutting and planting and doing all of these different activities. It's really come a long way. I haven't had too many problems with it recently."

He had plenty of problems with it last year, first breaking it and then aggravating it later in the season against the Bills in late November. In fact, the pain got so bad that there were times during practices and games when Roethlisberger wasn’t sure he could even walk.

Now he feels better, though Roethlisberger said he ultimately might need surgery on the foot (an option he actually considered after last season).

"I could have had surgery, but according to the doctors it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was. It was better off trying not to do anything," Roethlisberger said. "It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear. If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."

Big Ben's foot is fine, still might need surgery

Hey Moneybags ..... you can twist it and turn it anyway you want.  The fact remains Ben has won championships.  They don't have style-points big boy.  They just hand out the rings to the last team standing.  Ben is a warrior.  A true, honest-to-goodness football player and every bit as good as Manning, Brady and Brees.  He just plays differently.  And, I didn't see our defense drive the ball the length of the field with 2 minutes to go in the biggest game of the year.  I saw Ben do it, not Troy, James or Casey.  And by the way, you are right on the button when you say "accused" rapist.  There is a very, very, very, big, huge, MASSIVE difference between "accused" and "convicted."  So, thanks for clearing that up for everyone.

Big Ben's foot is fine, WOMEN NOT SO MUCH

I'm tired of these blogs being allowed to be turned into juvenile playgrounds for wastes of life who write post after post of disgusting, perverted, slanted, mean-spirited, and, mostly, innacurate smears against ALL people.
Actually...everything I said was very accurate.  Ben was accused of rape twice, by two different women.  And that my friend, is called a trend.

Second of all...do not compare Ben to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees....etc.  These guys win games on their own and dont all have the luxury of a top 3 defense each year.  If Ben was on a team like Indy or San Diego...teams with average defenses...he wouldn't win anything.

So keep that in mind.  And yes, Ben is an accused rapist.  Nothing inaccurate about that.

stick to fantasy football moneybags! Quarterbacks in the NFL are measured by Championship rings! The only active QB with more rings than Ben is Brady. Ben could easily be a QB who throws it 40 times a game and rack up big stats, but that's not how the Steel plays ball.  The one year he did sling it all over 4,000 yds 30+ tds, i believe they missed the playoffs.

It's time for CBSSPORTSLINE to react

I'm tired of these blogs being allowed to be turned into juvenile playgrounds for wastes of life who write post after post of disgusting, perverted, slanted, mean-spirited, and, mostly, innacurate smears against ALL people.

This isn't a BIG BEN thing -- this goes for CBSSPORTSLINE's entire blogging. It has turned from sports to a way where people can anonymously and cowardly spew every type of hatred imagineable.

CBS needs to clean this up. Many sites have -- or they've discontinued -- policed ther web posts.

Enough is enough, about ANY man or ANY team.

It simply makes CBS look bad. You dont even want your children to visit this CBS site because they are forced to read the many crewd, lewd, and mostly incorrect posts.

Big Ben's foot is fine, women not so much

Saying Ben is the best QB in the league is like saying Jason Kidd is the best PG in the league...just cause he runs the point on the team that one it all one year.

Ben wishes he had the skills of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner (yes, retired, but still better), Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees...etc.  Must I really go on?  Ben is so far behind these guys it isn't even funny.

Oh...plus the guy rapes women.  So yeah...model citizen.

You are the best QB in the league. GO STEELERS!!

Really!  No...really!  Best QB in the league?  Better than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning? Cmon guy...it's one thing to be a fan, it's another to just tell straight LIES.  Ben is FAR, FAR, FARRR from being the best QB in the league.

2nd of all...the guy had 2...not 1...but TWO occurences with rape.  That is not a fluke.  That is not coincidental.  That is Ben the Rapist....total loser and I pray to God that the rest of his career is plagued with injuries and worse.

Big Ben's foot is fine, still might need surgery

The good news for the rest of the division is this could help someone else win the division other than the Steelers.
Nah.

sdw19:  He is not a typical QB because he does not play well in thinking situations, but plays very well when plays break down, outside the pocket and in 2 minute situations.

This might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read.  You start your comment by stating that "he does not play well in thinking situations" and then finish that thought by describing when he does play well.  And, that happens to be when you have to make a decision in the most unplanned situtations possible... when you have to THINK quickly about your options.... two minute situation, etc.  I guess you are suggesting that he just throws the ball in the air and someone miraculously catches it from the same team.  He does this repeatedly, his whole career.

Are you really this ignorant when it comes to football?  Try another sport.

Alleged rape. were you in the hotel room w/ he and the hotel manager, or were you w/ he and the girl in the bathroom stall.  The answer is No! Therefore you don't know what happened for sure and neither do I or anyone else but the people directly involved. Since no charges were brought in either case you have to assume it was concensual sex.
civil lawsuits are nothing more than money grabs for the alleged "victoms".
This is America people are innocent until proven guilty, and since that never happened it is a done deal in my mind. Hense the statement I don't care what he does off the field.
As for "Murder", that is a question more appropriate for a Ravens fan to answer.
