RoethlisbergerPosted by Josh Katzowitz

For Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, the lockout hasn’t been a terrible occurrence. For one, he’s had the time to finalize his plans to get married in late July (where apparently -- and strangely -- it’s drawing comparisons to the royal wedding). And for two -- and for most likely the reason you would care about -- is because it’s allowed his broken right foot to heal.

“It's doing really good,” Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review on Friday. “It's healed up. Obviously, it helps when I'm not cutting and planting and doing all of these different activities. It's really come a long way. I haven't had too many problems with it recently."

He had plenty of problems with it last year, first breaking it and then aggravating it later in the season against the Bills in late November. In fact, the pain got so bad that there were times during practices and games when Roethlisberger wasn’t sure he could even walk.

Now he feels better, though Roethlisberger said he ultimately might need surgery on the foot (an option he actually considered after last season).

"I could have had surgery, but according to the doctors it would have been a really nasty process because of where the break was. It was better off trying not to do anything," Roethlisberger said. "It's going to be something where we're just going to have to, in essence, play it by ear. If it continues to be as painful as it was at the end of last year, then I'm going to probably have to have the surgery."

Every year this guy finds an excuse before the season or before big games just in case he fails so he can use it to explain his performance.  Everyone knows how much he hams up every bump and bruise.

He's a little more than what you just described...lets not forget his playoff run that led to the SuperBowl vs the Seahawks.  I'll admit that he had a bad SuperBowl there.  He also should have been the MVP of the SuperBowl vs the Cardinals (where the D completely broke down) but was robbed.  I know he didnt have a good game vs GB in the last SuperBowl, but neither did the so called King Peyton Manning in his last and Elway didnt in a bunch of them.  Lets see how his career plays out.  Rings are all that matter.  Either way, after having Stoudt, Malone, Brister, ODonnell...we'll take what you described above all day long...and the two rings (so far) that comes with it.

You are dead on..  I am from Pittsburgh and Steeler fans take everything personal like you are talking about them or their mom..  They are funny, though because they are easy prey.  I think all Steeler fans actually play for the Steelers, don't they???  No...  Ben is what he is Steeler fans.  He is an above average QB in a perfect system where the defense dominates and hands the offense the ball many times in the other teams territory.  He thrives in 2 minute/desperation situations because it is like playing in the back yard.  He is not a typical QB because he does not play well in thinking situations, but plays very well when plays break down, outside the pocket and in 2 minute situations.  He likes everyone to think he is tough so he cries and moans about how things hurt..  He loves your sympathy.  If you want to give your sympathy to a guy who can not relate to you because he makes more than all of you put together then go right ahead...

it is hilarious how all the steelers fans get offensive when someone talks about ben and his bad habit of taking the poon. if it was a player from the ravens, browns or any other team, the role would be reversed. take the jokes as just that. they are jokes. ben likes to take the poon, so let people have fun with it. people still jump on michael vick about the dog thing and brett favre about being a dumb perv.

Hey Honkers that might have been funny a year ago but since the woman in case #1 was proved to be a money chasing psycho who wanted to be pregnant by Ben and the woman in case #2 was put up to telling her story by the sorority sister who was denied access to the VIP area of the bar b/c of the saddle bags she was carrying on her hips I don't really see where your statements are close to accurate.

Of course it is fine but it might need surgery.  We are close to playing football.  It wouldn't be a season if Ben wasn't trying to get everyones sympathy for playing tough....  This guy is a joke.....

Yeah, you don't want to risk it Ben.  You want your foot 100% in case one of the women tries to run away or something.
