Talk of a Favre return already fired back up

Brett Favre is done with football forever. Having heard him say that over and over this offseason, we think we might maybe know that.

And then the venerable Gil Brandt, in a chat on NFL.com, goes and ruins everything by pointing out that he thinks Favre could end up coming back in 2011.

"I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning," Brandt wrote Tuesday. "But I don't see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter."

That's primarily because there are too many quarterbacks with a) less drama and b) less mileage out on the market for the teams in need for a quarterback.

If you're a team like oh, say, the Vikings and you want to bring in a veteran to push and mentor Christian Ponder, the last person you want is Favre. Not only has he shown that he's typically unwilling to take a role as a backup, but there's plenty of unwanted drama that comes with No. 4.

In the end, even though we'll still be forced to mention Favre rumors for the rest of the offseason, that'll probably be the case with every team around the NFL, barring some unforeseen circumstances.

Has Favre actually said anything?  Everyone talks about the "Favre Watch" but it seems to always be the media bringing up Favre.

If you take a look at the question posed to Mr. Brinson, to paraphrase, Do you think Farve can still play?, It requires a response. Brinson simply stated his opinion, a kind one at that, and didn't rule Farve out. I don't see where this warrants a  "Talk of a Farve return" headline. It was simply two guys talking. I have, and I'll bet that many of you have THOUGHT the same thing. Is it old? sure. Are we bored silly waiting for the lockout to end? Probably. I know I am. Lets get this thing settled once and for all and play some football!

You just know that Favre is sitting in Kiln, Mississippi, beside himself with delight over the fact that he's being talked about. Like all attention wh*res, he needs the limelight more than oxygen.

So once again, THE MEDIA brings up a Favre return and everyone calls FAVRE attention-starved?  I think ratings-starved meda idiots is a more accurate description.  Leave Favre alone!

Mr. Favre, Mr. Woods, and Ms. Palin, three little attention whores...I wish the media would give them the attention they deserve which would be the next time they have anything written about them would be in the obits column. Enough is Enough.

Oh brother.....maybe I'm not excited for the lockout to end after all.

I agree with others, no good team will want him, and he isn't going to play for a bad team or as a back-up.

Maybe some team can hire him to be Director of Social Media - after all, he has experiance promoting a unit through Twitter.

3 reasons he won't be back.

3.  He's old & beat up
2.  No real contender would want him, with a lack of time to learn the personnel & play book
1.  Jen Sturger issue and the player conduct policy will not go away.
