It started early Saturday when Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia on drunk driving charges. Later that day, Ward's manager told TMZ that not only did Ward "cooperate fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions … From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."

Whatever legal fate awaits Ward, it didn't take long for Ravens running back Ray Rice to share his thoughts on the matter, tweeting Saturday: "Well it looks like Hines Ward will miss week 1 when the lockout ends DUI charge not a good look."

As it turns out, the Steelers face the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 1.

Shortly thereafter, Steelers safety Ryan Clark came to Ward's defense. "So glad you could Weigh in. Thx," he tweeted at Rice.

And then, much like high school, it suddenly felt like a showdown in the hallway between classes. (Only lamer because these are grown men going back and forth on Twitter.)

Rice responded with "it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me," before Clark took the high road. "I hear ya brother. Thought we were all better than that. Wouldnt speak negative of you. I'll find you! It's not hard. God bless."

PFT's Michael David Smith points out that drunk driving is a personal issue for Rice. His cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, and he worked with the state of Maryland to campaign against drunk driving.

Whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would suspend Ward is another matter entirely, although he has said that players who violate the personal conduct policy could face sanctions once the lockout ends.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

I guess Desean Jackson would have some choice words for those who tweet, but honestly it is pretty juvenile. Its the age we live in where people need that graitifcation of everybody knowing what they think or feel at any given moment. Athletes should be banned from tweeting and in fact in certain instances coaches do ban them and rightfully so. All they wind up doing is showing their ignorance, has anything good ever come out of a tweet?

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Its pretty comical that football players are taking shots at other players for their indiscretions. Hines Ward is a stand up citizen who has never been in trouble before, this could happen to anyone in any walk of life and who knows the whole story. Myabe the police officer was trying to make a name for himself and knew it was Ward driving. Lets wait until the case goes to court before we pass judgement, after all this is America where you are innocent until proven guilty, see Casey Anthony.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Hines Ward is/was a pillar of the Steeler nation, a lifelong steeler. Dante Stallworth was a stop gap vet that played one year on a Ravens team that had him listed as their 4th WR. Hardly a comparison.

Don't tweet and drive or tweet and drink or just don't tweet better yet. It is a gay thing to do and if you do it well.......there you go.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

First of all, I don't think Ray Rice can control which players are on the team. He's a RB not a GM. Secondly, how do you know what conversations Rice and Stallworth have had regarding the situation?

Mr. Rice, isn't Dante Stallworth a teammate of yours? You have a personal vendetta against DUI Drivers from losing a cousin, that's understandable - but look at your own house first.

Ward and Clark are classy enough guys not to point this out during your little twitter war, but everyone else is thinking it. You score a TD then have a sideline ass slap competition with a guy who actually did kill someone while driving drunk.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Castoner, put down the crack pipe cause it will be Mendenhall missing week 2 BECAUSE Ray Lewis is ready to break his OTHER one. The ONLY reason Ray Rice has more than the usual reason for posting this is due to his immediate family loss due to a drunkdriver. It's not like these teams like each other anyhow right? The Ravens - Steelers games each year are simply the best to watch as a fan.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

This is all about these players using social media to sound like morons.  Yes Mendenhall did it to.  Rice had no right to say anything.  Do you think that the Ravens PRs would have approved this comment.

The fact that Ward got charged is besides the point of this article.  Ray Rice opened his mouth about a Steeler, knowing that these guys stick together.  Clark being the smart guy that is tried to comment back(not smart) in a way that he could stick up for his teammate.

Rice decided to get gansta about it and now we will see what happens week 1.  I hope that Rice watches the AFC Championship were Clark laid out Willis.
