It started early Saturday when Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia on drunk driving charges. Later that day, Ward's manager told TMZ that not only did Ward "cooperate fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions … From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."

Whatever legal fate awaits Ward, it didn't take long for Ravens running back Ray Rice to share his thoughts on the matter, tweeting Saturday: "Well it looks like Hines Ward will miss week 1 when the lockout ends DUI charge not a good look."

As it turns out, the Steelers face the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 1.

Shortly thereafter, Steelers safety Ryan Clark came to Ward's defense. "So glad you could Weigh in. Thx," he tweeted at Rice.

And then, much like high school, it suddenly felt like a showdown in the hallway between classes. (Only lamer because these are grown men going back and forth on Twitter.)

Rice responded with "it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me," before Clark took the high road. "I hear ya brother. Thought we were all better than that. Wouldnt speak negative of you. I'll find you! It's not hard. God bless."

PFT's Michael David Smith points out that drunk driving is a personal issue for Rice. His cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, and he worked with the state of Maryland to campaign against drunk driving.

Whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would suspend Ward is another matter entirely, although he has said that players who violate the personal conduct policy could face sanctions once the lockout ends.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Ravenwood, you say you won't get into a pissing match just before you whip it out and let fly.  I guess since your team can't get it done on the field against the Steelers, you feel the need to vent your long, long pent up frustration by denigrating an organization that yours wishes fervently it could be.  In any event, Ward is defending himself exactly as Ray Lewis did when implicated in a murder, and the team has nothing to do with either of those situations.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Hey Argo.....  Get the facts straight.  The ONLY reason Stallworth wasn't charged with Manslaughter for KILLING a pedestrian while driving drunk was because he paid a cool Million to the family of the victim who in turn appealed to the judge to go easy on Stallworth.  Basically, he bought his way out of the Manslaughter charge.

So don't make it out like Stallworth was an innocent victim of a drunk pedestrian jumping out in front of him.  Even if the person he KILLED was drunk - So was Stallworth and while he did the right thing and stayed with his victim and comforted him while he DIED - he stilled was legally drunk when he hit him with his car.  That is manslaughter.  This person would probably still be alive if Stallworth had not drove drunk - but then again the family wouldn't be millionaires now either.  So I guess that makes Stallworth's Killing someone less of an offense than Ward being "charged" with DUI.

Being Charged with a crime is not the same as being convicted of it.  Let's hold our judgements on Ward until he is (or isn't) actually convicted of the crime.

The point of my previous post was that Rice should shut the Hell up because he has teammates that have done worse than what Ward is being accused of.

And Yes I do think it is stupid to drive even after 1 drink - it just isn't worth the risk.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Drunk driving is very personal and hits hard at home for Ray Rice. His original Tweet was not obnoxcious.  Ryan Clark did not need to say anything.

What a waste of time.

I might add that why, why do these athletes with money still drink and drive. Worried that their Escalade is going to get damaged
leaving it overnight. Cmon Hines call a limo service or get a cab. You are probably dropping a G in the club or whereever you were, spring another 300-500 and get a limo. 40 for a cab.

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with steeler fans, but the facts here are obvious. The only people that refuse a breathilizer test, are the ones that know they are over the limit. So his refusal to take the test say's it all. He should "man up" and take his punishment. But I guess thats what the steelers organization teaches their players.....deny,deny,deny..... Right Ben??????

Are people really missing the point of his comments.  Yes its a little jab between 2 rival football teams. These comments from Rice were more personnal.  If you have ever lost a family member to drunk driving you might understand.  Your actions getting into a car after partying too hard and then taking some innocent bystanders life is unforgivable.  Rice's comments hit home.  I'm sure he hates all drunk drivers not just Hines Ward. Really Ward and Rice play same side of the ball and will never see each other on the field at the same time so all these threats mean absolutly nothing.

Good point MPouncey53, I hate when rumours start about Steelers signing someone else's recycled trash (Plax Burress, etc.), we certainly have enough talent of our own. We do pretty good in the draft also. Go Steelers, Go Gators.
