Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

It started early Saturday when Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia on drunk driving charges. Later that day, Ward's manager told TMZ that not only did Ward "cooperate fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions … From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."

Whatever legal fate awaits Ward, it didn't take long for Ravens running back Ray Rice to share his thoughts on the matter, tweeting Saturday: "Well it looks like Hines Ward will miss week 1 when the lockout ends DUI charge not a good look."

As it turns out, the Steelers face the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 1.

Shortly thereafter, Steelers safety Ryan Clark came to Ward's defense. "So glad you could Weigh in. Thx," he tweeted at Rice.

And then, much like high school, it suddenly felt like a showdown in the hallway between classes. (Only lamer because these are grown men going back and forth on Twitter.)

Rice responded with "it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me," before Clark took the high road. "I hear ya brother. Thought we were all better than that. Wouldnt speak negative of you. I'll find you! It's not hard. God bless."

PFT's Michael David Smith points out that drunk driving is a personal issue for Rice. His cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, and he worked with the state of Maryland to campaign against drunk driving.

Whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would suspend Ward is another matter entirely, although he has said that players who violate the personal conduct policy could face sanctions once the lockout ends.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Wow, we have a Ray Rice sighting!  I guess he had to get some attention after falling off the map last year.

Steeler Nation beware....Your organization is falling apart!!!
Hmm...never heard that one before. It seemed like the Ravens were a slam dunk to win the AFC North in 2010 with all the trash talking their fans did.

I'm sure Raven defenders are hoping so, they tend to land on their butts a lot of times when Ward goes against them Wink.

And I doubt Ward gets suspended, or anyone that caused trouble during the lockout for that matter. He should, but won't.

it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

This is the kind of classic trash talking that goes on all year between these team.  I think both teams respect each other and play football the way it should be played but very dissapointing to see Ward act in such a manner.  It's another example of the Steelers showing their true colors.  First, Ben "The Rapist", Mendenhall "The Anti-American" and now Hines "The Drunk Dancer".  Steeler Nation beware....Your organization is falling apart!!!

Steelers4Me, let's be fair about Stallworth.  He pleaded guilty to DUI, but the homicide charges against him were dropped--apparently because they couldn't be proven.  As I understand it, the pedestrian who was killed was also drunk, and apparently the DA determined that Stallworth probably couldn't have avoided the accident even if he himself had been sober (the guy apparently ran or jaywalked into the street in front of Stallworth's car when it was almost on top of him).  So, by all means say Stallworth drove while drunk, for which he was properly punished--but don't say he killed someone because he was drunk.  That's never been proven and probably wasn't true.

By the way, I'm no Steelers hater; they're my favorite team in the AFC and I always root for them against the Ravens.  And I've already forgiven Ward for flapping his wings (arms, or whatever) to celebrate scoring a touchdown against the Eagles in 2004.

In case you haven't noticed, Hines Ward is not our greatest weapon.
That would be Mike Wallace. I'm not even sure Hines will be the second greatest weapon the Steelers have in the passing game in 2011. Emmanuel Sanders could be that guy.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

It's just your typical trash talk between the Ravens and Steelers. I can't wait for the current greatest rivalry in football to get back underway come Week 1 of the 2011 season. These two teams play the game exactly the way it should be played. Hard hitting, smash mouth, physical football. May the best team win in Baltimore, then in Pittsburgh later in the year and if there's a third playoff meeting, then also!

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Well said steelrs4me_or. Didn't see old Ray-Ray speaking out against signing Donte Stallworth last year, in fact I bet you could find some article/comment from Ray Rice saying how muchnhe supports Stallworth!! If so he is such a hypocrite and should mind his own business.

Talk about bad luck; Ward gets pulled over the one and only time he's ever been DUI.

Valid argument about Donte Stallworth. I agree 100%!!!!

Detroit Playas, you my friend are an idiot. I personally don't care what forum you use to be an Advocate for Child Abuse. What would you post if someone was backing a player accused of Child Abuse? You use this sticking his nose in someone else business? Isn't that something that an Advocate does? So you are telling me that MADD is sticking their noses in where it does not belong? Think about it then post...

A DUI isn't like a murder charge, rape charge, assault charge, etc. I don't get where all the argument "he was only charged!!!". Yeah he was charged! And of ALL the people I have EVER met that were "charged" with a DUI, were found guilty. You were driving under the influence and got caught...It happens.  Will hell freeze over? Nope. Is it a crime? Yeah. Like I said, it happens...
