It started early Saturday when Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia on drunk driving charges. Later that day, Ward's manager told TMZ that not only did Ward "cooperate fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions … From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."

Whatever legal fate awaits Ward, it didn't take long for Ravens running back Ray Rice to share his thoughts on the matter, tweeting Saturday: "Well it looks like Hines Ward will miss week 1 when the lockout ends DUI charge not a good look."

As it turns out, the Steelers face the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 1.

Shortly thereafter, Steelers safety Ryan Clark came to Ward's defense. "So glad you could Weigh in. Thx," he tweeted at Rice.

And then, much like high school, it suddenly felt like a showdown in the hallway between classes. (Only lamer because these are grown men going back and forth on Twitter.)

Rice responded with "it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me," before Clark took the high road. "I hear ya brother. Thought we were all better than that. Wouldnt speak negative of you. I'll find you! It's not hard. God bless."

PFT's Michael David Smith points out that drunk driving is a personal issue for Rice. His cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, and he worked with the state of Maryland to campaign against drunk driving.

Whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would suspend Ward is another matter entirely, although he has said that players who violate the personal conduct policy could face sanctions once the lockout ends.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

How would Rice know how long Ward will be out?  Or, to put it another way, why should anyone give a darn what Rice says, since presumably he has no more expertise in this area than anyone else?  Or does he?

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Now correct me if I'm wrong - but doesn't Donte Stallworth play for the Rat-Birds?  Didn't he KILL someone while drunk driving?  Shouldn't little Ray Rice be speaking out about him????

Maybe you should clean up your own house (Ravens team) before worrying about other teams Mr Rice.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Rice was angered by yet another NFL player getting yet ANOTHER drunk driving charge.
Understandably angered as he has lost a family member to a drunk driver. However, unless Ray Rice is a teetotaler; he should be careful himself. You can have as few as a two drinks and if you get behind the wheel too soon, he too can have a blood alcohol content that would be considered legally impaired.

Let the facts come out. Hines should be held accountable if he is indeed guilty of DUI but many. many people are also DUI without trealizing you don't have to drink a case of beer to blow a .08.

RavensCock2006,

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Thanks Rice. In case you haven't noticed, Hines Ward is not our greatest weapon. With or without him we now have extra motivation to crack you in the head. It's weasels like you that makes Harrison & Co. want to knock peoples heads off and you can't hide behind Goodell cause he can't stop them. I hope when Ray Lewis see you next, he smacks you & tells you to shut up.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Reguardless of him being a spokesperson it's not "HIS" place to say something. I'm a spokesperson for child abuse but I don't go tweeting or anything else like that everytime someone new is charged with child battery or worse. If I did I'd be a pompous ass. Simple fact of the matter is know your place. When a conviction is laid down then it's "HIS" place to speak out against it. Untill then let the hand play out before you lay all your chips on the table.

As far as calling another person an idiot, I pitty you. seeing as your name involved a "JACKASS". Goodday sir.

DUI charges are serious and you just came up with that? You're an idiot...

Rice was angered by yet another NFL player getting yet ANOTHER drunk driving charge. He a spokesman against drunken driving in Maryland. I think that kinda figures in to him tweeting about this situation. There would have been zero "fighting words" as you call it, if Clark would have been an adult and said nothing to start with. Again Ray Rice is a spokesman against drunk driving in Maryland. I see it as HIS place to say something. I know this is a point that you will come back to argue because of your ignorance towards intelligence.

Also I am glad to see your point of not being worried about Hines in week 1, beware of 92...Huh? That has nothing to do with Rice, Ward, or Clark...

Again you are an idiot.

And to think, I actually liked Ray Rice.... until now.  First, he goes flapping his gums on Twitter about something that doesn't concern him, suggesting what the penalty should be for something Hines hasn't been convicted of.  "DUI charge"... "charge" being the critical word.  Just because you're charged with something, doesn't mean your guilty.  I would think, as a young black man in America, Rice would understand that concept as well as most.  But perhaps I'm being presumptuous and giving him too much credit.  Then, he overreacts to Clark's response, trying to be tough guy, acting like he's ready to fight over this (again, on Twitter).  All Clark essentially said was "mind your business."  And Rice took that as fighting words?  Clearly, Rice is not that guy.  Rice, stick to running the ball, and not your mouth - all you're doing is exposing yourself as a poser.  Anyway, on week 1, Hines isn't the guy you should be worried about; ....its #92, all he will say is "TWEET THAT" after he lays you out!

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

I guess Hines was celebrating his win on Dancing with the Stars.  Did the cops say whether Roethlisberger was in the backseat forcing himself on 15 year old?  Or maybe Mendenhall was still looking for evidence of the Holocaust?  What a team full of losers...
