It started early Saturday when Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested in Georgia on drunk driving charges. Later that day, Ward's manager told TMZ that not only did Ward "cooperate fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions … From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."

Whatever legal fate awaits Ward, it didn't take long for Ravens running back Ray Rice to share his thoughts on the matter, tweeting Saturday: "Well it looks like Hines Ward will miss week 1 when the lockout ends DUI charge not a good look."

As it turns out, the Steelers face the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 1.

Shortly thereafter, Steelers safety Ryan Clark came to Ward's defense. "So glad you could Weigh in. Thx," he tweeted at Rice.

And then, much like high school, it suddenly felt like a showdown in the hallway between classes. (Only lamer because these are grown men going back and forth on Twitter.)

Rice responded with "it's whatever u wanna do bro you know how to find me," before Clark took the high road. "I hear ya brother. Thought we were all better than that. Wouldnt speak negative of you. I'll find you! It's not hard. God bless."

PFT's Michael David Smith points out that drunk driving is a personal issue for Rice. His cousin was killed by a drunk driver in 1998, and he worked with the state of Maryland to campaign against drunk driving.

Whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell would suspend Ward is another matter entirely, although he has said that players who violate the personal conduct policy could face sanctions once the lockout ends.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

There is so much jealousy or is it envy from the Ravens to Steelers players and fans.. Its kinda funny because there is no comparison on the field.. Steelers have owned the Ravens in Games that Matter......The Ravens will settle and be happy with one-third of the Steelers resume.....that all this comment tell me.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Pittsburgh, you've got QB getting out of hand in bars, a RB tweeting how 9-11 was a conspiracy, and now a WR drinking and driving.  Thank you for keeping the Bengals out of the top headlines this year.  Other than the C. Palmer saga, the Bengals have been quiet this offseason and are ready to hand over the Thugs of the NFL trophy to the Steelers.

Ward will be playing Week 1.  BFD- Wallace is the receiver the Ravens need to be worried about now.

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

> Haha, typical steeler fans, bringing up something that happend over 10 yrs ago,

icemang, this is not a good response.  You don't dispute the fact that Ray Lewis is a murderer, but back it up by saying yes it happened but you should bring up Jamaal Lewis because his incident was more recent.  Hopefully it was not your intent to say that Ray Lewis is a murderer, but you will support him because he is a good football player who happens to play for your team.  If that was your intent, I hear Kasey Anthony is looking for a boyfriend...

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

The NFL messed up by not makeing this game a Monday night game.  Looking at the first week I can't think of any reason that they didn't get it in the first place.

GET THE CBA DONE SO WE CAN SEE THIS HAPPEN

Rice thinks Ward will miss Week 1 for DUI arrest

Here's a suggestion for both of the Twitter gangsters: shut the **** up. Is anything lamer than waging war over Twitter? Go meet at Radio Shack and tweet to the death, tough guys. Or meet at Rice's parents' house and play settle matters in the basement with those silly "magic" cards. They're like a couple of teenaged girls with their silly electronic banter. Shut the **** up and pretend that you're both all grown up now. Losers. Stitch "Poindexter" on the back of your jerseys, you silly little girls.

Braylon Edwards got a DUI last season and was not suspended at all by the NFL.  He was also a repeat offender.  Hines Ward has no priors therefore no suspension.
