Jerry Hughes, the Colts 2010 first-round pick out of Texas Christian University, was arrested Sunday Morning along with former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Stephen Hodge and ex-TCU defensive tackle Corey Grant on suspicion of public intoxication near a Dallas nightclub, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting.

According to the paper"Dallas police working the area observed a disturbance that had started in the nightclub and continued onto a sidewalk. Three men accused of being involved in the incident were subsequently arrested on suspicion of public intoxication. The men were taken to the Dallas City Detention Center."

Hughes, 22, played in 12 games as a rookie and had six tackles.

Hodge, 24, celebrated his birthday Sunday, and was drafted by the Cowboys in 2009 but never played in a game because of injuries. He was released last November.

Grant, 23, started 13 games for TCU last fall and was named second-team All-Mountain West conference.

In the scheme of things (and assuming this is all there is to the charges), public intoxication barely registers on the "What bad things have NFL players done now?" radar. And if we're being honest, at some point in our lives we've all been in public when intoxicated. (Hey, if you were drunk and choose to walk instead of drive home, you were bound to be in public.) While the news probably won't make the Colts' front office happy, it's better than, say, this, this, this, this, or, of course, this (we you get the point).

The police don't arrest people for public intoxication unless they're starting trouble or causing a scene.

I have to agree that the Colts front office will not be happy. The Colts are a team that tends to pride themselves on having "the right guys" all of the time. As a Colts fane, I some times believe they may even go over the top. Player gets busted with pot, Colts cut him loose... At least he was not driving. He may get by with this one, but it is time to behave now... If not for the lockout, wouldn't these guys be in training camp and not out getting in trouble? Maybe he can use that in his defense.

Their lawyers should just ask the judge a simple question...How do you get from the night club to home without never being in public?
