Vikings punter calls 4 named plaintiffs greedy

This morning we noted that, as two of the 10 plaintiffs in the Brady v. the NFL case, Vincent Jackson and Logan Mankins could each ask for $10 million in compensation. At the time, the thinking was that the other plaintiffs wouldn't seek similarly high payouts because they either weren't in position to (free agents, already under contract, retired, etc.) or, as elite quarterbacks, already had all the leverage they needed.

Turns out, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are also looking for settlements of their own. CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman writes that "Multiple sources say that Manning, one of the named plaintiffs, wants immediate free agency in order to settle the lawsuit. Those sources also say Brees wants to be a free agent next year. The sources say lawyers for the NFLPA have asked NFL owners for those two things in addition to the reported demands from Mankins and Jackson."

So, yeah, tying a nice little bow on a new collective bargaining agreement doesn't seem as close as it did just a few hours ago. That said, Freeman is confident a deal will get done this week.

So while all hope isn't lost, Viking punter Chris Kluwe is wholly unimpressed with the news that four of the 10 named plaintiffs (who, by the way, are supposed to be representing the other 1,896 NFL players) appear to be cutting their own deals. So, naturally, Kluwe took to Twitter to voice his displeasure.

That doesn't leave much room for interpretation. The problem, of course, is that, as Freeman pointed out this morning, a new CBA can't be agreed upon unless all the plaintiffs settle the case.

That's much easier when some of them aren't looking out just for themselves.

I wish I knew more details of the lawsuit and the possible settlement. I do know Vikings Chris Kluwe should be quiet. He doesn't say much in his Tweet, and besides, he's a punter. They aren't real football players, are they? I couldn't tell you anything about what's going on in this article, because it doesn't really do a good job of explaining.

If you want to report about what Chris Kluwe said or tweeted, you could at least give us more background. At this point, I don't really care... let's play football and stop all of this nonsense.

Mankins is asking for 10 million or to be come a free agent?  I am a Pats fan and I will be the first to say Mankins is an a-hole.  I am sick of his crying.  That D-bag was under contract and held out not to mention he is the typ of idiot who would hold up the settlement just to get his way.  Guss what Logan you don't like the terms or your contract then you shouldn't have signed it.  Now he's complaining about being frachised, how 11-12 million for one year is being disrepected.  Memo to Logan Mankins, you are a guard, not a left tackle so quit crying because no one wants to hear it.  Please sign and trade this guy.

Greedy owners?  Of course, but you aren't honestly suggesting the players aren't just as greedy, are you?  No, any moron can see both sides are in it for the money.  The difference is, the owners are the ones who've worked long and hard enough to buy and build an NFL franchise all the while paying superstar atheletes millions of dollars.  They're both greedy.  Don't pretend either side is any less so.

OK, here we go with what is wrong with the country, millionaires getting richer of of billionaires.  The point being these players are greedy.  I have worked all my life to make a small portion of the superstars yearly pay, maybe a half percent.  What do they want, an underground ice palce in iceland?
