There was much rejoicing in the land of NFL fans on Thursday night when the NFL owners voted 31-0 to ratify a settlement agreement. There's just one problem: it's not exactly in-line with what the players were expecting. has obtained an email from NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith to the players a few moments ago that indicates precisely how they feel.

"As you know the Owners have ratified their proposal to settle our differences. It is my understanding that they are forwarding it to us," the email reads. "As you may have heard, they apparently approved a supplemental revenue sharing proposal. Obviously, we have not been a part of those discussions.

"As you know from yesterday, issues that need to be collectively bargained remain open, other issues such as workers compensation, economic issues and end of deal terms remain unresolved.

Smith's email concludes in a fashion that should sufficiently point out how differently the players view the owners' proposal.

"There is no agreement between the NFL and the Players at this time," Smith concludes. "I look forward to our call tonight."

The biggest fear for everyone involved is that the players might see the owners' decision to approve their own deal as a way of pushing public perception against the players. And that's entirely possible, but we won't know for sure until the end of the NFLPA call.

One thing's for sure, though: this isn't over yet.

Smith to players: 'There is no agreement'

Good point Mr Players Club .... the players are worried now that public perception is against them .. what a joke .... not many in the public make what these guys make .. and for the losers who say "but it is a tough life .. they could get injured" .. fair enough .. get another job at 30G ayear ... tops .. because most of these thugs can't even put words together to form a sentence ... let them go unemplyed .. many of them will end up in jail ...m you know what .. screw you to the players .. it's the owners money ... if you don't want to play ... don't show up for wok .. get fired loke anyone else would .. there should be enough players with sense enough to report to work as expected .... there is no union line for those who want to be paid to play to cross ... fill out the rosters with others that wish to play ... ban all of those that don't report for life .... enough is enough ... owners .. take back your league ... the players are employees!!!

No Deal

the players need to hold out--this proposal is not in their best interests.  They should get a lot more money.  The owners love it!  31-0!!!

The majority of players arent smart enough to even understand any of the items being negotiated....they are part of a union and should just shut up and take what they are given...that is their option.

Interesting that this is basically being negotiated in the media.   Information is so frequently avialable that every move is being monitored by all different types of social media.... Email, twitter, ESPN, Other websites... who uses the phone anymore...   The press is loving this and the players are going crazy...... 1100 of the 1900 players are at the minimum, give them a raise and beef thier long term benny's and the vote will go the owners way.

Looks like the owners tried to pull a fast one.  Unfortunately for the players, the fans are so rabid for football they won't care if the owners agreed to pay the players minimum wage across the board at this point.
