Report: Eagles have interest in Brett Favre (!)

You know, maybe Brett Favre's not the problem. Yes, he's made a mockery of the notion of a retirement press conference, and yes, he's brought a lot of this on himself by subsequent un-retirement press conferences. But when if finally seems as if he and his Wrangler jeans have moseyed off into the sunset, the media refuse to let him go.

The latest silliness: Howard Eskin of Philadelphia WIP, reported Saturday night that the "Eagles have some interest in Favre once they trade [Kevin] Kolb. Sources told me it's possible. Not sure what Favre thinks."

We don't know what Favre thinks either, but here's what he said last month about the prospects of returning to the NFL: “I don’t want to put my body through that anymore. I’ve been beat up enough.”

Favre has been known to say one thing and do another, but Favre's brother, Scott, has also weighed in on the matter, telling the Biloxi Sun Herald's Al Jones, "I would say there's less than a 1% chance (he would return). He is retired."

A few weeks ago, NFL.com's Gil Brandt, without speaking to Favre or anyone in Favre's camp, suggested that Favre still wants to play, in part because Favre offered to work with Cam Newton. (Yes, we're confused, too.)

We'll repeat what we said at the time: "We actually believe Favre when he said he's been beaten up enough. And if he gets a hankerin' for a comeback, we'd encourage him to watch these."

It's also worth pointing out that one of Eskin's sources told him in June that Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn't want the team to draft cornerback Jimmy Smith. To quote Peter King: "That story about John Harbaugh not wanting Jimmy Smith? Wrong. Totally wrong."

Just something to keep in mind here as well.

And so now I direspect you! You are a typical tv watcher that learns what to think from the press. Hate is created by some bad personal expiriences, not 2nd hand articles. And by the way, like George Bush took a media beating still only half the country want to kill him. You'll find its identical for Favre after his Bush like media assasination attempt. You I despise for being one of their pawns!Idiot!

This has gotten my morning off to a hilarious start.  This isn't even one that we can blame on Favre.  It only took the prospect of the end of the labor dispute and getting down to the season for the Favre stories to start.  I thought that this might be a legitimate story in that it would mention putting Favre into a coacing capacity, where he would likely do the most good nowadays.

And I already despise the Eagles enough when they have Michael Vick lining up under center for them. Other than Vick, Brett Favre was my most hated player in the NFL bar none. His on again, off again retirements sure got tiring and even though I'm a diehard Steelers fan, a big part of me takes pride in the fact that Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to a Super Bowl win in February. Now of course I wish it hadn't happened against my team, but Rodgers patiently awaited his turn while Brett constantly held the Pack hostage for years and years. I wish both dog killer Vick and egomaniac Favre would go away forever already. That said, I think old man river will finally stay retired this time.

Should he not though, I think the Eagles for at least one season should become more universally hated than the 2010-2011 Miami Heat were. Granted I already hate the Eagles more than the Heat because of QB Dog Killer, but the rest of America should also follow my lead!

You don't watch much football I take it jcj1. 2007 he led the Packers to a 13-3 record while passing for 4155 yards and 28 TD. 2009 he led the Vikes to 12-4 and threw for over 4200 hyards with 33 TD and 7 INT and the best QB rating of his career at 107.2. I do not get all the Favre hate here either. He hasn't said a word about coming back but don't try to see he has been washed up for 4 or 5 years. And you call Favre a Clown!!
