Braylon Edwards avoids jail time

Free agent WR Braylon Edwards won’t be going to jail after all.

Though he faced a six-month prison sentence after violating his probation by pleading guilty to a DWI charge, the New York Daily News reports that the former Jets WR has been assigned to 100 hours of community service and one year of probation by the Cleveland Municipal Court.

In 2009, Edwards pleaded no contest to an aggravated disorderly conduct charge, and he was given a 180-day suspended sentenced, and provided he stayed out of trouble, the sentence eventually would be wiped away.

He put himself in a bad position with the DWI charge last year, but considering he pleaded guilty to it, he must have had a pretty good idea he wouldn’t actually get jail time for his latest infraction.

Now, he’s back to the business of signing a rich free agent deal. And he tries to keep his head up.

Tweeted Edwards today: “Not the best of days so far...but I'm trying to stay positive!”
